  2. Well, things didn't go according to the original plan today. But only because another one was formed 😁 This came up at a price I couldn't refuse. Needed to move fast so still have to shift the Fezza, but have a deal agreed. This is the 650S, an evolution of the 12C. Same chassis and something like 85% the same components, but with a few important tweaks from lessons learned from the previous version. First impressions are that it's everything a supercar should be - looks amazing from every angle, comfortable and easy to drive normally, yet an absolute weapon when you press on! It is completely next level from the Ferrari, so much faster and more refined. The extra 10 years of technological development is quite clear. My dad likes it too, he was well chuffed to have a go!

  3. As the "megaupgrades" of the Deathfield continue, I wanted to report the excellent service I've had from club sponsors, 3J. Called them yesterday lunchtime, spoke to a friendly and knowledgeable chap who gave me some good advice on what was best for how I wanted to drive the car. Great price, and the LSD arrived this morning. Other motorsport suppliers take note!!

  9. 5 cars already planned for a run to Rannoch Station on Saturday 20th July (may change to Sunday depending on weather). Medium to fast pace expected. Meeting point will be car park in Aberfoyle. Time to be confirmed but probably 9-9.30 ish to try to beat the cyclists and tourist traffic. Can also rendezvous at Kilmahog for anyone not wanting to go over Dukes pass or coming from further north. This is a run some of us do each year and on a nice day the scenery is stunning. The route takes in Dukes pass, Loch Achray, Loch Venacher, Loch Lubnaig, Killin, Loch Tay, Ben Lawers dam (photo opportunity), Kenmore, Keltyburn, Schiehallion, Loch Rannoch, Rannoch Station. Return journey dependent on your home location but generally Tummel Bridge, Loch Tummel, Pitlochry and then your own route home. Its a great run run with some amazing scenery and a very nice cafe at Rannoch Station. Bob

  12. What a great night, sun shone cars were great, had a burger and an ice cream. 10 cars made it in with me and Mark meeting at Rothwell Sports Centre and joining a convoy with a Cobra and 2 mk11 Cortinas, a 1600E and 1600GT estate, one of 8 left. We got there first and put up the flags and banners then the rest arrived. The show is great, with a varied selection of cars and a miniature railway.

  17. To replace my ford viscous lsd that was worn out and basically operating like an open diff, 99% track use, with quite a relaxed attitude toward track limits. I specifically didn't want an ATB, but didn't want it to be TOO aggressive. I'm looking to be able to keep it neat and tidy if I want, but also to be able to hold it sideways on the throttle if i'm feeling so inclined. The moon on a stick. He recommended 40/90 and 40-45 lbft. I'm no expert, but depending on how often and how hard you're driving on track, you might be better off with a Quaife ATB or sticking with what you have.

  20. I'm running 4 cameras with the Contacam software, on an IBM T420 laptop, with core i5 and 8GB of RAM, the same machine also runs an FTP (filezilla) server, an OpenVPN server, a http server, FreeSSHD, a proxy server, Domoticz home automation server, as well as being used daily for light browsing/etc. With Contacam you want around 2GB per camera for seamless simultaneous recording. As for recommending a tower PC for this, I recenty got a slim form factor Dell Optiplex 980 with slighty better specs for £145, for use as a dedicated server box.

  23. Its 75% about the engineering for me. I loved doing the project but I would also love to get involved in a BEC project. if it doesn’t sell, I know I’ve got one awesome car to enjoy. I’ve used it today for work funny enough, 40 mile commute with the sun breaking through the clouds at 6:45 this morning at the top of the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire doesn’t get much better than that in a Westfield!

  24. All spaces now allocated. Please be at the paddock office with your car approx 5 minutes before your slot so that your car can be readied. Have fun guys, and for those that dont know, Alan Mugglestone is taking over as Blyton circuit manager from Richard Usher in November Best wishes John

  30. Only right to pop back into Tagg Lane Dairy on our way home. The convoy of 4 was now 3 as @westyjord87 needed to get some work done. The remaining 3 enjoyed some familiar roads. Car was rather grubby, once home. It has covered circa 1580 miles since it's last wash though! As were my shorts! We used the Whatsapp live location to assist navigation throughout our trip along with Tomtom and two sets of car to car headsets. 3 of us are back home on this shot.

  31. Ideally I'd like to sell them together, surely you need a spare gearbox too... If they are unsold in 2 weeks then we can look at selling separately. Cheers

  32. The guidance in the testing manual is very clear with regards to Q plate, be it a kit car or otherwise it is treated as registered pre-1975 so the applicable test is visible smoke only. The V5 emission limits apply to kit cars registered from 1998 onwards and carrying a VRM with an age identifying number or any substitute cherished VRM. Note: a Q plate registration cannot have a VRM changed! They are not contradictory but they may be flawed. All we have to do is follow the rules! With regards to your second point @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO there is no requirement in the MOT testing manual stipulating the requirement of dual circuit brakes in order to pass the test. However, they are required by The Road Traffic Act 1988 (Construction and Use regulations) and full European Type Approval together with Individual Type Approval for kit cars since 1998. So no arguing required as it is very straight forward even if it does not seem logical! BTW, not sure how the brake question arose because I would expect your car to have dual circuit brakes anyway? 34. Eight Saturdays to go! On the back of the success and great turn out of the Thames Valley Orienteering Run, come and join in on the Mystery Navigation Run on Saturday 24th August, south of Glasgow. Promising 200 miles of wiggly roads to whet the appetite, along with the (easy) challenge of navigating the route with rally-style instructions. More info at the start of the topic - any questions, just ask here or PM me. Just a day out, or make a weekend of it, there's already folk doing it either way. Some are staying over in Peebles on Saturday night, gathering for a pub/restaurant meal in the evening, others just a day-run and back home, McWestys are used to travelling 100+ miles just to get to the start of a run! Rosetta Holiday Park/campsite is on the edge of town for those who don't mind tenting. Starters... 1. Brad and Diane 2. Gary and Trina 3. H7 Brian (+1?) 4. Jim and Jean Tentative... 1. Ziplob Bob and Lorna 2. Alfascozzesi Gary and William Other McWestys? We don't get many runs in the year, given distance and climate, so how about it? @Davep1 @Jonsey @Matta @Hornet600 @judder @Colsum @Robert (bombero) @David-hrv @Kirmodawn1 @Scottish Westy @clansman and others? Northern AOs et al? Any interest? @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO @Steve (stevel) - Lancashire AO @Dave (OnliestSmeg) - Manchester AO @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO
