  4. Once I was happy with the layout, the loom was pulled out of the car the cable ties were cut off and everything was wrapped in loom tape. the finished loom. Refitted in the car, just a few clips and some tidying left to complete.

  5. Ah the wiring loom! At least a 2-cylinder motorcycle engine doesn't need that many wires. many of the wires and bulkhead grommets came courtesy of an old MX5 loom that was orignally destined for the tip until I realised at the last minute that a few bits from it might be useful for this build. First job, the dashboard was assembled..... Well that didn't take too long! Next all the various wires were laid out in the car to check the routing and work out the lengths. Fear not the use of cable ties is only temporary and all of them will be removed for the final fitting.

  14. The WSCC Speed Series is at Wiscombe Park hill climb on 27 and 28 April. We're gong to hold the next Devon and Somerset meet on the Saturday 27 April to support the Speed Series, have a catch-up and enjoy some on-track action. http://www.wiscombepark.co.uk/events/events.htm I will post a pre-meet location nearer the time (so we can drive in together and park for a group photo of course ) I believe the coffee bar usually sells some cake as well! For anyone unable to make the pre-meet, let's say 11:00 in the paddock in front of the gates into Wiscombe House (behind the food vans) for a catch-up. I'll have my Westfield cap on as always - please come and say hello. See you there, Dave and Tracy.

  27. Hi All As my post-Westfield journey continues and I'm looking to tick more car owning life experience boxes, I have my 986.2 Porsche Boxster 2.7 up for sale. I bought this over Christmas from Porsche specialist Friends Green Porsche. I chose this car because it had one owner from new up to August 2018, with a regular 10k miles per year done to 155k, and a full Porsche dealer and Porsche specialist service history. The log book has every single stamp in the book and the car has wanted for nothing in its life. I have maintained this full service history with a service and MOT at Export56 in February. It passed its MOT with zero advisories and a clean recommendation from Export56, who said it's one of the best condition Boxsters they've seen. The car is tight as a drum, the interior is immaculate and it drives like a much newer car, with compliant and positive suspension. It really is a wonderful car. As a regularly used car that is in completely original condition, it has the expected stone chips to the front bumper, along with a couple of small scrapes/scratches around the car, but unusually no car park dings anywhere. There is also a small hole in the hood, it doesn't leak and causes no issue, so hasn't bothered me at all. A new hood isn't very expensive and if I were keeping it, I'd either get a hard top for it for over winter, or replace the hood in the longer term. It looks stunning from a few meters away but during wash and polish when you're up close you can see its loved and used life. That flat 6 behind your ears sounds amazing. It's the second version of the 986, so comes with the higher power engine and cleaner features such as the clear indicator lenses. It also has the rare and wonderful sports seats option with embossed Porsche logo in the headrest! The car is completely standard and benefits from being so. It has just had a service, new brake pads all round and a clean MOT. It's ready to enjoy the summer! Comparing the car to others for sale on eBay, Pistonheads etc., this is a £6k car. However, because of the mileage, the hood and the few small marks, I am looking for £4,500. This doesn't include the service and MOT costs I have just spent on it, but does help move on to my next car buying adventure I am based just south of Milton Keynes, come and have a look and get yourself into a Porsche for summer!

  36. Since having my aeroscreen fitted I hadn’t given a full screen any thought untill I was killing time in the garage and found my old pillars and plastic mirrors..They were looking tired and the plastic had faded a bit and in general looked scruffy ,so I thought about giving them a makeover . I picked them up today and they looked like this got them done at a place called Hydrov8 in Peterborough by a great bloke called Chris . Top job . I may even put them on from time to time.

  37. Finished the winter jobs - New bike fuel pump, led rear lights and changed all the rear loom connectors to Sureseals. The old lights and connectors were constantly giving problems, blown bulbs and water corroding the connector pins. A pair of rear led lights cost the pauper £7.45. Here she is all nice and clean.
