My DAD! & Dad's Dad was a car enthusiast too. A few years ago Dad's first car was a sporty Jowett convertible. He drives every day and for last 6+ years he's been driving an MX5 mk3 - with 2 speeding tickets and no bumps! Not unusual you think! But he is now in his mid 90's and has just completed a power upgrade..... So proud of him. & so wish to be as sprightly and able to burn up the highways when I reach his age. (and be able to afford to)5 points

More progress made. My evenings in the week were spent painting the various of the engine cradle so I would be able to bolt it in at the weekend, only a slight amount of fettling needed then it dropped straight in. Ŵ With good progress made early on I could then move onto the gear linkage. No photos of the next bit (sorry i forgot) but essentially the triumph's foot change was cut down and then milled to get both faces parallel so it would accept a clevis. Then finally the link rod was bent to shape so it would clear the side of the seat and the ends tapped for screwing into the clevis. Also a bit of period switch labelling completed4 points

At last after a few frustrating weeks I’m back on the road As someone with limited knowledge but willing to have a go ,without this resource and the members I’d be lost ( or paying a garage ). One of the reasons I’d always wanted a westfield was so that I could learn the mechanical side of things as well as enjoy the driving . Thanks to you lot I can now do my own servicing, I’ve upgraded my radiator sorted My starter motor and electrical problems and my freewheel is up and running .Id like to say a big thanks to @Thrustyjust who always comes to my help ,his advice has been welcomed on many occasions on varying topics. Mike @Kit Car Electronics For sending me a freewheel package ready soldered with all the information to enable me and a mate to fit it Also for being good enough to give me his phone number on his Saturday afternoon off to help 2 people who didn’t really know that much get it working .It really is not that complicated and a great bit of kit (My favourite upgrade yet ) @Jon Wilkinson who was a Godsend with my electrics ,(turns out he’s an Auto electrician ) Without the above and indeed all of you the forum I’d be lost ,With you I’m gaining experience growing in confidence and ultimately one day may be able to build a car of my own .See you all at Stoneleigh . For anyone that’s not seen a freewheel yet here’s mine get one .. Steve3 points

What a brilliant day today. Started at 7.30am and lasted until 6.35pm. Out for breakfast and my mate had the breakfast in the picture. Not bad for £4.50. We then visited Caldwell Park after going on a bit of a secret mission. It was my first time watching the bikes and I really did enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would. Next up the coast and visited grimsby and whilst there I wanted to go see the Humber sea forts. The one in the picture sold recently for £117.000.3 points

Since having my aeroscreen fitted I hadn’t given a full screen any thought untill I was killing time in the garage and found my old pillars and plastic mirrors..They were looking tired and the plastic had faded a bit and in general looked scruffy ,so I thought about giving them a makeover . I picked them up today and they looked like this got them done at a place called Hydrov8 in Peterborough by a great bloke called Chris . Top job . I may even put them on from time to time.1 point

I asked Patrick from Westfield Parts if they would consider making some shorter pillars to allow quick changes and they are looking onto it?1 point

A minor hiccup. It's all sorted, thanks folks. Time to move on and simply because it is ultimately, as Chairman, my responsibility and accountability on behalf of all our members (and the general public) to ensure the Club's good standing, I've locked this thread. ETA: Although in need of an update and not all encompassing, a reminder that we do have a set of guidelines here.1 point

I agree, this is not the place. Time for some serious thinking about what is posted. 'sad really'....' are you now disappointed that you had to remove it?.. or have i misunderstood?1 point

It was a lot cheaper then having it re sprayed vinyl lasts between 5-7 years and you can always return it to its original colour, cost depends on what sort of vinyl you want chrome etc costs more,1 point

Sad really? it's the worst word in the English language I hate it and that C word has no place on a public forum that's something a 14 year old school boy would post grow up!1 point

18 hours in hospital. cycling home from work I was thinking about what to eat whe I got home and how many beers to consume... I passed a parked on my side of the road just before a right turn junction.. Normally I give parked cars a wide birth but not this time as There was a van coming the other way and turning up the junction. The parked car’s door opened and the sharp end of the door hit me mid chest and I went over the door. it’s separated my sternum which should be held together with cartilage. As I lay on the floor I could feel it clunking and stuff crunching moving about in my chest as I breathed shallowly. I could not get up and scared something in me would move badly if anyone touched me. There was suddenly loads of people about offering blankets etc. I’ve never had such a hit of adrenaline, sweat running into my eyes and the shakes. Ambulance was slow but the service was excellent . A&e dr was not going to x ray me but changed his mind. The lower half of my sternum has dislocated and moved in towards my heart cavity. Because the I was traveling at speed and my sternum was effectively stopped by the door there was concern about heart / surrounding tissue damage. I was wired up and monitored for 12 hours to check my blood pressure and heart Rate remained stable. Friday night is a colourful place in MIltonKeynes a&e! The staff put up with so much and have security and a police person there the while time. It’s madness that these staff have to put up with people who clearly don’t appreciate or have any respect for a life saving free service. I’m out of hospital now. Very stiff all over with assorted bruises sprained wrist and a new shape chest. Not sure how long it will be I suspect serveral weeks/months before I can get in and out of a Westfield. Also I need to avoid situations where chest impact could occur as my chest plate / sternum is compromised until it heals into its new position. i can remember the front wheel of the bike was broken. I sort of hope there is some proper visible damage to the carbon frame. I’d not be confident of the bike especially the front forks after that impact. the car I hit I bent the door, and pushed it into the front wing. The driver could not close the door after.0 points
