  6. Nothing to do with a Zetec, it will be the ECU that deals with inputs - the engine is of no consequence really. Hence why I asked the original question. My aim dash works perfectly with my 2.0 Zetec, all sensors, analogue inputs and can input via DTA s60pro ECU.

  7. I had Arias pistons in my old crossflow and are still in there 20 years later , as a mate owns the car now. But worry not and just use it. They are easy engines to work on but can be a lot of work to make them sing good reliable power. Mine was 145 bhp with steel flywheel, roller rockers , guy who did porting for Janspeed did the head a flow work, but still happy with standard rods and crank, although steel main ends line bored in. Was a great engine , even if it cost me a lot was worth it. ( was told it was me or the car by the then missus. She became the ex about an hour later ) women are replaceable a decent crossflow is for life

  8. Back home safe. Was raining quite light so went with the roof up and some side deflectors minus the doors. Took it nice and steady with a few blasts on some drier sections but then five minutes from home the heavens opened. Didn’t get wet till we pulled up on the drive

  9. No, WSCC members weren’t set to add events to it, I’ve just been through and hopefully got all the normal member permutations, so club members should be able to add track days now.

  12. Another handy thing with using the Raspberry Pi is it allowed me to attach an old USB webcam to the mill, plus run a remote desktop viewer on a tablet - so now I can sit in my office and keep an eye on the machining remotely...

  17. Also a cheap set of 1/3 height windscreen pillars in plastic/carbon (Like these from AA Composites) for those that want to switch between winter windscreen (full pillars) and summer aeroscreen (albeit straight/flat).

  21. One thing you can do Patrick, is when you supply black rimmed dials to also supply black rimmed dash lights for the handbrake, indicators etc . Otherwise have them in chrome and black gauges look a bit weird. Just an idea !!

  22. We were offered 10 grand off a pre-ordered XC60 Auto D4 and 0% apr for 2 years for the PCP, so to be honest a no brainer. We had no choice in fuel then and to be honest we have 46 mpg on it currently on the 'Cant be bothered to reset the trip meter mpg' We arent fussed about mpg though and judging by my bosses petrol and hybrid Mitsubishi thing , when the battery runs out at 30 ish miles , he gets less than 30 mpg from the engine. So, personally we are doing better than hybrids, as his electric bill goes up every night he charges up and the office bill goes up every day he plugs in, in the rain currently with a muddy lead to stuff back in the boot. We bought the XC because it is roomy, comfy, wafts along, doesnt mind huge potholes , see infront of traffic , room for the dog cage in the boot. From driving a V60 last week, it was none of those and doesnt warrant the expense of change by popular agreement here. This Volvo and our last diesel one potters around in city life and as yet not seen a DPF issue in over 5 years of driving them. Neighbours passat was another story and as a salesman did 40k a year and was always having issues with dpf. We do italian tune it when we go on the motorways though Must say that as a car the XC is brilliant and luxurious compared to other brands , suits our needs and even though its a diesel , I am of an understanding that it is a bonus now too.

  27. It'll be listed for 250 only due to the fact WF only support it for this engine. It can be configured and wired for almost any motor/car.

  28. I'm not 100% certain behind the reason it's listed for Sport 250 only. I shall confer with Technical and come back with an answer. May be a day or two before my reply.

  32. If you want MPH don’t buy a SUV... regardless of how slick you make it it’s still opening up a larger amount of air than a larger saloon car. Type of mileage you do has to be the consideration when thinking fuel type. I drive a 3 series touring 320d with 186 bhp 0-60 about 7.5 and top speed of 144 iirc. I average high 55-60 most tanks. last tank 66 as there was a drive to Cornwall and back. But the wife does short journeys and she has a 1.4 Ibiza petrol we avoided the 1.2tsr version with zero road tax as they hate short journeys. I still believe the only true green thing to do is keep a car on the road for as long as possible. Goverments and car manufacturers wantus us to keep buying new cars. ££££ .. they just need to keep making reasons why... What better reason than believing your saving the planet.

  33. To be fair, the internals were designed with a 100k target. Many moons ago I was dubbing an open university program on material science and for a change found the content interesting - it was about the conrod design and manufacturing process at Ford and how it was value engineered to achieve the target. Doubling the power output is always going to give it a hard isn’t it!

  34. Modern oils, better filters, better machining and ballencing at rebuild time has helped the longevity of even old design engines. There was plenty of mk1 xr2’s with the Kent doing over 100k...

  36. Excited today is the day. Looks like we’re either going for the slightly damp and helmet route or we could end up using the doors and roof. Gotta love our weather

  38. Bit of a bump with some potentially useful info... this silencer is now 3.12kg with a smaller (2.25" instead if 2.75") perforated tube and the correct amount of Acoustafil in it (rather than their recommended amount which is enough to insulate a whole house ). It's 6" dia and 22" long. All stainless apart from the carbon sleeve, and packing material, obviously! So, looks like you can make a saving Dave

  39. Same music I listened to when I was a bit younger. I did borrow a friends album a few weeks ago from his vinyl shelves. - In The Court Of The Crimson King. Still sounds good to me.

  40. Even my mother blew hers in a Mk2 escort and was about 35k miles old. She didnt know what happened as she couldnt see for smoke out the back Luckily there are better longevity components available now but they are being stressed with standard power being about 75 bhp for a 1600 , to put a large percentage more through it will always lessen its life, but its in relation to how many miles a Westie does too.

  46. interesting concept the supertrapp. Not sure how free flowing as it basically involves separating the gas flow and making it change direction by 90 degrees. I also wonder if on a Westfield it needs something to get the exhaust gases to be directed away from the body work.,
