What a fantastic day. Thankyou to Gary, Jude, Terry, Emma, Carol, David, Di and Malc for taking part. Gary had a 850 mile round trip and Jude had a 400 mile round trip so a special thank you to you both for taking the time and effort to join us. The morning started with an early start at 5.30am with a drive to Middlesborough to meet Gary and Terry for our Christmas breakfast. This included Yorkshire puddings with breakfast gravy. I was really good and had a smallish breakfast but another person who will remain nameless had two, huge piles of food, one after the other. We had some great banter with the waitress and she invited us to her house for a meal once she found out about our secret that we all had in common. Following our breakfast it was a brisk two hour drive to my house where Jude wore our official outfits for our Switzerland trip......heaven help us all.....she's as mad as a hatter. Dinner followed in Scarborough where we met with everyone else. We all ordered our food and because some of us had a small breakfast we ordered a light lunch, except for one. He had just eaten two massive breakfasts and then had steak and kidney pudding with chips. Wont mention the earlier mince pies earlier. Amusements followed where we played on the penny pushers. We had a fantastic hour on one machine and just couldn't stop winning money. We tried to get icecreams but the two shops we liked where both shut....so.....it was karaoke time and coffee in the Lord Nelson pub. We had a brilliant day today and I just want to thank everyone once again for joining in.2 points

I have checked the Buxton Webcam and there is no snow, thankfully, plus the outside thermometer has just risen to +1. Forecast is good for tomorrow morning and I just fancy eating an ice cream, er well maybe not, but I do fancy a little drive in my muchly loved car. Can't wait.1 point

I can now confirm dates, ferry details (and costs) and outline hotel theory and indicative costs... Sailing Outbound Route:Portsmouth to Bilbao Departure: Tue 25 Jun 2019 08:45 Arrival: Wed 26 Jun 2019 14:15 Sailing Return Route:Bilbao to Portsmouth Departure: Wed 03 Jul 2019 17:15 Arrival: Thu 04 Jul 2019 20:45 Total return price*£484 * excludes price of cabins/seats Cabins are £100+ each to Spain Cabins are £110+ each back home Can do up to 4 berth so lots of potential to save money and join up here NOTE - return sailing DEPARTS Wed 03 Jul but arrives in UK Thu 04 Jul. https://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/ So assuming £40/night/person = 7 nights, £280 (based on two sharing a room). Hotels - will look to ensure they have facilities, swimming pool etc. This time the approach is to have the accommodation in sections so we are not packing up every day, based on 2-3 nights at each hotel to allow for travel days and chilled/driving days at your own pace should you want. Total per person will be: Accommodation £280 each (based upon 2+ sharing rooms - this is approx and most are pay on arrival but I may ask for a deposit as its free cancellation upto about a month before) Ferry £484 per car (£242 each) Cabins for 1-4 £210 = £732 per person (based on 1 car, sharing a car, sharing a room) If driving alone but sharing rooms/cabins then its £974. These are estimated ceiling prices so should be less per night than this. Plan is alternative drive to new hotel then a day exploring/leisure then repeat (ish). I organised a France to Spain last year, and have 2 other France trips behind me now. I am hoping/assuming hotels will be pay on arrival/departure so I can start to book these over Xmas and hold them - but tweak if required. Enough detail for now to gauge interest? Just wanted to do a rough guide and costings so we can get firm numbers. My availability is limited and Ferry choices are limited (this is the cheapest combo!) hence the desire to book now. Definite names by end of 2018 ideally. All that needs to be paid 'today' is the ferry non-refundable deposit of 25% ~ £180. Ferry balance isn't due until 26 Apr 2019. Book your ferry direct via the link above. If you book the ferries to lock yourself into the deal and let me know that would be great. Depending upon the hotel choices/options/availability I may have to (a) ask for deposits/hotel money and/or (b) book accommodation for those who have committed to the ferry with late additions making their own hotel bookings (subject to availability). I'll post the hotel details once I have them and advise on the above so late additions can add on - I'll help where I can. Whos in? I have provisionally booked the accommodation for up to 8 people. More details available - drop me a PM if you want.1 point

Agree, Andrew often keeps ads for top end cars up and running to entice buyers in with a “Call for details” attached... but to be fair, I did call and he then sourced a car to fit my spec and budget.1 point

Usually Audi drivers. if they move their seat forward they could actually get closer to the car in front. (The above comment obviously excludes Audi drivers that use this forum)1 point

They may have their own battles with the EU. Our issue is that despite their on-going national issues they are all united against the UK leaving. And for me that's extraordinary. Whilst on the one hand the EU mandarins will all say they are respecting the democratic rights we exercised when we voted to leave, they are being obstructive and obstinate. A situation conveniently ignored when remainers get in front of a microphone.1 point

They are just the Bolt On Bits wing indicators an either a right angle carbon sheet or a bit of alloy with dare I say it carbon wrap . But @Tom (T3OMF) - Cotswolds AO wouldn't do the latter, I am sure1 point
