Good to see an engine in the shed. Luckily down there the weather is better and cars don't rot in the same way as here. On the Ecu front have a look at Emerald ecus. They are pretty good and will come with a base map on there and easy for a tuner to fine tune when car is ready.3 points

Went this year for the first time and loved it, I’ll certainly be going again next year. I might have to stay up later for Gail’s singing, I missed all the fun this time,2 points

Hi @si_salisbury, Look forward to meeting you on Sunday, fingers crossed that you can come, in a turbo'd 1.8 MX5 engined one too, goody, goody. I like MX5's and I like Westfield's so when you put them together it has to be a winner. Everyone in this group is really friendly and we are never the same group 2 weeks running, mainly because everyone comes from 1. miles away and 2.a different direction. It's a great recipe for a club get together. This weekend we are staying in the Southern end of the Peak District as I knew beforehand that people were coming from that area. Hats on and wrap up warm, it's going to be freezing xxxxx2 points

Sorry, that’s what happens when I try to multitask eating breakfast and reading.2 points

It looks like everyone comes in every direction to join in. like the rest of you, weather depending and work depending (stock taking time) but this is normally done by Saturday evening. hope to join in on Sunday .2 points

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say hi to everyone, Its my first post here and I'm not quite yet a Westfield owner however I paid a visit to the Westfield factory on the 7th September and ordered a mega s2000 kit. My collection date is the 15th November and I'm pretty excited about the challenge of building my own car.1 point

Wel this is my first attempt to copy Davemk1. First drive today and i must agree with Dave's comment about control. It's made it sooo much better and enjoyable to drive. Thanks Dave. My next change will be to add some grip tape and fit the panel that Rusty sent me, more for when cruising and need to rest the clutch foot.1 point

Thanks Dave, I'm very happy with it, there is a bit of a crack in the camshaft cover, but other than that I can't really fault it without opening it up! It's definitely all there, I've got wires and hoses going everywhere!1 point

Hi buddy, I might be meeting a couple of other Westy at Bassetts Pole Maccys to then drive up to Ashbourne. Do you want me let you know if that happens and what time?1 point
-
Well worth it. My drive is about 2 hours if start is in Matlock and 2.5 hours to Ashbourne. Brilliant company, food and driving. I went last weekend and don’t have the pass to get out this coming weekend but defo would if I could. How about the GBS event on the 8th December? Little bit nearer!1 point

Yeah, I'm usually an hour or so, give or take. Except for those events on the eastern/Mansfield side of the Peaks, and then it's an hour and a half or there abouts. Its all good though. Julie also has an exceptional talent for tweaking the routes slightly on the go, so that we miraculously often end up with similar journeys home, rather than who ever came furthest ending up even further away!1 point

Peaks meets are central to many other WSCC areas, and there being great countryside with fine roads and 'cakes' are therfore frequented by many that travel a distance to get there. The few I've made were around 1:30 hrs, from North of Manchester. But it's really a question of how far you're willing to drive, which may depend of route/weather/daylight hours/wet weather gear. I have driven a circuitous route of 2+ hours to get to the Lancs meet, which is actually only 30mins direct1 point

Hi Si, we’ll be travelling up from Birmingham ,so about an hour for us, but I know Andrew Clarke travels along way as does Dave Eastwood , but you have to make an effort to enjoy the gain ( cake ) and company. Hope to see you Sunday Andy and Becky1 point

Well I went to Pompeii today and had a mooch round. Bit dilapidated. Nothing that @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO can't sort with his digger. Excuse the pasty look I have sadly been ill all this week and nearly stopped getting on he plane at Bristol while staring at it. But the thought of heading back through Bristol made me board the plane. We almost headed home today than Saturday. No idea what's up. Anyway enough sob.1 point

So the time had come for my first trip to Anglesey, It was going to be either brilliant weather or freezing so earlier in the year asked a few fellow competitors if they would like to share a cottage. In the end it was just myself with wife Michelle and baby Olivia with @Howard (the champion) Gaskin and his son Alex. we arrived at the cottage late afternoon and eptied all the thigs you end up carting around when travelling with a wife baby and dog and i headed up to the track. I was plesantly suprised that i was able to sign on and get scruiteneered so less of a rush on saturday morning.Howard and Alex arrived and we settled down for some food and a good night in a warm comfy bed. Saturday arrived and i was very nervous, like it was my first event. I cycled round the national course with @MarkBishop and boy is it steep up to rocket. first practice came and i managed to get round ok 3 seconds off the target but felt more time to find and was happy that i would be able to get some good points. P2 and T1 were terrible both spining at rocket and ending up cutting the grass a little on one occation. T2,3,4,5 it all started to come together but just not having much experience of the track held me back and finished the day 4th in class but with over 96 points so still on track to keep my above 95 avarage i had set myself at the start of the season. Sunday arrived and after a good night sleep and a couple of pints with the others i was much calmer and felt like my head was back in the game. again i cycled round with Mark and this was really going to be a test of how fast i can go with the long back straight from chaple to rocket, likley to be the fastest i have ever been in the car. P1 and P2 were quite straight forward but with the very windy conditions no records were to be broken. i was 10 seconds away from the target time after the practices. the timed runs and i spun out of the first corner and apparently from the onlookers was alot closer to backing into the barrier than i thought, i anger drove the rest of the lap and suddenly realised how much i could push round chapel and up to rocket. The last run of the day and i felt like i was on it unfortunatly i arrived at rocket to red flags. Mark had out breaked himself into peel and gone straight on into the tyre wall but was ok and the car looked to be ok once back in the pits bar a little amount of fiberglass repair required on the nose. I headed straight to the startline for a re-run and managed to push in to the second car to start again after the red flag. i pull off the line 1st 2nd round the first corner 5th doh. luckily the torque pulled me along and although a little slower no where nere the amount of sideways action it had been all day. I pushed on to the finish and no time was displayed it had been dodgy all afternoon and didnt think i was going any faster so just parked the car on the trailer. As i was straping the car down fellow competitor Leon Franks came up and said well done mate good day. i said i didnt think i had gone any faster. yep 99.89 and beat his previous longton record. so new longton clas record, first in class and also fastest novice on the day something i had been aiming for all season. the only run i recorded all weekend so the end of my first full season and what a season it has been. if you have never tried to sprint or hillclimb i would 100% say give it a go as @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO said to me earlier in the year at Blyton you cannot prepare yourself for the rush of putting your visor down and going up against the clock. see you all next season Simon1 point

Had a great holiday amalfi coast sorento and Naples few years ago too. Drove in city centre Naples and they are mental. But it's a logical mental = 1st into space has right of way, which when got used to it was easier than sometimes over here where generally drivers have no spatial awareness and randomly move.1 point

As for space, build a wooden trolley at a height to suit you and fit heavy duty castors. That way you can move the whole Shabang forwards/backwards/sideways easily in your confined garage.1 point
