Westfield SEIW 1999 (Q reg). MOT until June 2019, 10700 miles.built with Zetec 1800cc engine (built by AES Engineering) & MT75 Gearbox. it has the contoured dash fitted too. all Weather gear included with the car (side screens, full hood & tonneau cover), all of which are in good condition. there is a spare wheel included with the car,but its not fitted at the moment. I have a complete history file that includes the original receipts from Westfield. all of the past owners have been WSSC members too! the car was serviced in august 2017 (new cambelt also fitted at that time too). the front wheels are of a different style to the rear ones (two correct ones included in the sale, but they are not powdercoated like the rears are, so not fitted). the petrol tank sender needs altering because when it gets down to showing half a tank, the tank is actually empty. the carpets have also faded from the sun (supposed to be black!). so, with a set of matching wheels, new carpets & the fuel sender adjusted, this could be a very nice car. The car is registered as a Westfield, in my name. This is offered on here to attract a genuine buyer, because I don't really want to deal with scammers etc on the other general selling sites! I have taken into account the jobs listed and therefore I am looking for offers around the £5000 (five thousand) mark. I am based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk and can be contacted on:01553 672724, please leave a message if I don't answer as I work shifts. I will try to respond if messages are put on here, but my computer knowledge is very basic!!1 point

As a new member I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce myself. I’ve had an interest in kit cars for 28 years, my first car after passing my driving test was a Dutton Phaeton. After an unfortunate coming together with a sign post and writing the car off, I went main stream with a one litre VW Polo! Since then I have rebuilt a Marlin Roadster – taking part in the ‘Guild of Motor Endurance’ 6 hour event at Mallory Park back in 1995. I sold the car a couple of years after that having got married/ bought a house etc. Once home life and finances had settled down I was getting the bug again. Not having workshop facilities I bought a Lotus Elise S2 – good fun to drive (and great to look at), but I didn’t have that emotional connection to it given that I hadn’t physically created it! I sold the Lotus once we had a family, which takes me to now – seven years later on down the road. A month ago I visited the Westfield factory and put a deposit down on an XI in the obligatory Westfield Green! I first drove an XI when the factory had a demonstrator (12+ years ago!) and I’ve had the desire to build one ever since. Before the XI kit is ready to collect in about 8 weeks I’ve firstly to build my garage (230 kg flat pack having been delivered today!) having already prepared and made a base for it! I hope to write a build thread for the XI (not the garage!). Cheers! Morris.1 point

Thanks back in May I dropped off a kit of parts to the fabricators for welding and today I finally was able to collect the first half (yes it really has taken that long!) there's still a few more parts still to come which are proving difficult to machine due to being hardened steel but for now I was able to take the completed axle carrier. Around the same time I dropped off the parts at the fabricators @Ben (bunje) was also kind enough to do a small machining job for me and made the brake drum carrier, thanks Ben We started off with a drawing.... And the finshed parts1 point

I have finally got the results for Curbough (fig 8) event held last Saturday. Results are below which are interesting as I hope to be there at the end of September - all good fun. Enjoy and if there are any problems (highly unlikely :D ), let me know Curborough Fig 8 (R27) Tiggs over and out1 point

Looks fabulous. I really enjoyed it last year but could not commit this year with the Westy being off the road. Oh well, there is always next year.1 point

Hi Jeff, Hold off spending time looking, a Ford dealer in Switzerland has kindly posted one of three he had on the shelf, didn't even charge me! Thanks though. Kev1 point

Jeff. Your pics show what a great weekend it was. Enjoyed it all, bacon butties, fairy cakes, but also great company, and lots of good friends. The Gold Cup is my favourite event of the year. The rain on Sunday produced some interesting racing, and the Monday was dry, Calum Lockie, in the 8.8 litre March, did a 100 mph average lap, pole position and won both races. Car of the meeting for me. Car 18 in your pics. John.1 point

When I started looking at car no.2 a couple of months back one of the first jobs was a major stock take to see what parts I had and what might be missing and I was quite relieved to find I had a full set of suspension components. Some of these are original parts whilst others it is clear from the welding are later reproductions but all visually appeared useable although others not cosmetically at their best. i really should have taken some better photos! Having found I'd got a full set these and a few of the smaller parts were sent off to the platers for a good polish and some fresh nickel.1 point

A little more progress to day. The arrival of the parts from the laser cutters has given me the chance to start pulling together a few bits for taking to the welders. One part I've been keen to get on with is the rear drive assembly for the Carburol Special as every component for this is missing and so will need to be made completely from scratch. The drive housing is a simple fabrication but I still needed to turn the 3-tubes on the lathe and drill and shape the mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are 1-1/4" steel angle which was first cut to length on the trusty chop saw and then onto the pillar drill to drill the holes. The corners then needed a radius on them for which the bench grinder was put to use. To help me form the radius by hand I bolt an oversize washer into the hole which I can then use as a guide when grinding away the corner. The finished kit of parts ready to take to the welders1 point

Yes, but not the one this year TBH there's not much left to do on the first car now, a few brackets here and there and thats about it. The car will be going to the Fordham car show again this year in August after which it will be fully stripped down. The parts which aren't already plated will be sent away for a polish and nickel plating, there's a bit of welding to do on the chassis which can only be done with the body off, then there's the chassis to enamel paint before final assembly. I'd like to think all the above will be done by early next year. That way I'll be able to use the first half of the year for testing, probably at Gosfield and to get it log booked.1 point

With not much happening with the JW4 at the moment while I wait for the fuel tank to be made I've started looking more at car number two. I've already got a lot of the parts needed for the build and whenever I've had parts made I've been ordering in pairs but there's still a few bits missing that I'm going to need. The steering rack was a bespoke item for the JW4; I had what I thought was a spare rack for the second car in amongst the boxes of parts but on closer inspection It turns out it was missing the pinion. Luckily I had the original machining drawings but unfortunately gear cutting is well beyond my basic workshop tools so a quick call to JDR and they were able to help out.1 point
