With no rain, fog, low sun, ice or snow, I thought the weather was quite benign today for a change. Before we even reached Matlock, and in a long line of ordinary cars, I was the car that one of the 4 Policeman had to pull over, just to ask me what I thought the speed limit was. I confidently replied '30 mph' he had a quick look at my car and sent me on my way. We arrived at Heage Windmill and had our photo shoot, soon to be greeted by a sprocket of retired Rolls Royce engineers, who now volunteer there. Well, we are only 10 miles north of the big RR factory in Derby. Without delay, we were given a tour of all the workings of the windmill, even though it was officially closed, with only the shop open for flour sales. 2 of the cast gear wheels were cracked, they were discussing where to get new ones cast, and how to replace them without disrupting production too much. We went into the shop to buy some flour, the lady in there gave me her contact details, just in case we wanted to return with more cars, the prospect of which she was mightily excited about. This is the shoot that feeds the grain into the mill, actually it is a nose cone from a Rolls Royce jet engine. The end is rubber to allow it to flex and release any ice built up on the engine, when it is in a plane that is, not here. People make a place and these really were the most wonderful people, so full of knowledge and keen to pass it on. Next up we called to see @Trevturtle, and return his wheel brace that he had lent to us a couple of weeks ago. Like many, he is up to his neck in upgrades, and loving every minute of it. By now we were starving and we soon arrived at The Shoulder of Mutton in Osmaston, where the fire was roaring and the cooks were cooking Back through the Peak District to arrive home just before dark, perfect, the only improvement would be, if it was shared with friends. Hope to see you all soon.4 points

Good evening everyone! After a long while lurking as a non-paying member I thought it was time that I rightly put my hand in my pocket and contributed to the forum! Since purchasing the Megablade in Feb 2016 I’ve made a few changes to suit my taste! I’ve just finished fitting a Playskool Full roll cage which took me a little while as the old bar was a welded in RAC bar. Over the next few weeks I plan to complete the following: - Refit interior including fabrication of interior panels - fabricate a new boot lid panel due to new roll cage. - fit SPA design mirrors to roll cage - replace battery and fit CTEK convenience connector and battery indicator within interior. Here’s a few photos of my progress and of the car in general: Paul.3 points

Well due to the fact that space = money we limit uploads to the server. With over 1000 paid up members our server would fill up pretty quick if we let everyone go ape images are relatively small, but as you say a few mins of video is a different matter. So, use YouTube and post a link2 points

Get the westie out and go for a mini blat. It wasnt as cold at the 7 deg said it was, but it still managed to freeze me after 15 mins. Car took a few churns to get all 4 sparks and fuel to meet, but once it had a couple of mins to warn, the idle came down to come off cold start. Forgot how different it is to drive than bland cars and how nice it was to be out on the first drive of the year, at last. Meet tomorrow , but 4 deg and a windchill of 1 deg, I may test the Volvo's electric heated seats instead !! Happy days !!1 point

Depending on the type of cracking it may not be an MOT failure. I have Avon ZZ5 on my A6 Quattro. Superb in the wet and reasonable price. Highly recommended. Definitely not Pirelli though. imo1 point

I use contisport contact on Octavia and very happy with all year round performance. Not cheapest but not dearest either, cost does depend on size.1 point

I don’t know what you mean Ian! Cams and RR no different to a family meal out at local pub! I wouldn’t rely on assumptions, already emailed by banks, as a precaution!1 point

I’d love to say a definitive yes, as the thread is sorely missed, and was hugely entertaining. However, I don’t know how long the backup copies of the forum are kept before being overwritten and it’s a while since the thread was around. Otherwise, I’m afraid the suppliers of the forum software intended “delete” to be pretty final. There used to be a four to six week window after a Post was deleted when an administrator could restore it, after that it was gone for good, unless it could be restored from a physical backup copy. And then in the last big forum update before the current one, the suppliers removed that restore option and made all file deletions immediate and irreversible, (again, unless a sepperate backup was made). When we realised this, IIRC, after Bunje accidentally deleted his own thread, and a Chris had to restore from a backup - Ben, reported it immediately, so we were in time, we removed the ability to delete posts- it was just too easy to do, and replaced it with “hide posts”. This still makes them invisible to everyone, but does mean an administrator could restore them without having to resort to the back up’s of the forum. (Chris advised that restoring Ben’s thread wasn’t easy!) In a similar vein, we discovered one of the back stage “buttons” for dealing with spammers is a total nuclear option and likewise irrecoverably deletes stuff with no way, outside of restoreing from external back up to bring it back. Chris should be able to advise how far back the backups go.1 point

Just think it would be like building you car again without all the cost and all the thumps as the courier monkey lobs parcel over your 6 foot gate. Go on, you know you want to! Just like building another car, a second write up would be better than the first and the first was great!1 point

No baffles in mine and like Dave, us Honda engines have a little moisture and a miniscule oil in there. Zetecs , if set up right wont breath . I think i used to get 20ml every thousand miles. If you get loads of oil in a tank, then the breather is either done wrong or you have a massive problem. You dont need baffles . Mines just a collection tank, which them vents to atmosphere. I fitted mine at the front of the car, as my last car was on the bulkhead. This then gave unpleasant smells , which when I built this car was definately fitting it further from my nose. My thought was that any smells would then be pulled into the filter and got rid of that way. It doesnt smell at all .1 point

Petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric all have there own plus and minus points. But so does a pony and trap. Whiffy emissions, the M6 would be even slower. But on the positive side, no tax or insurance and your roses will be best in show. I’ll stay with my V8 Westie for the foreseeable, it’s doing it’s bit for global warming.1 point
