  1. Having just seen this on episode 4 of the Grand Tour: https://www.theverge.com/2017/3/1/14779540/mclaren-supercar-transforming-dashboard-video I've got to ask why! Surely with modern electronic dashes why didn't they just change screen config like I can do on my Dash2 or can be done on the Aim units. The rotating Dash is clearly adding uneneccsary weight for the sake of bling Any thoughts @Mistercorn

  5. Thats about right for a Zetec. Have you a cat in the exhaust ? A good one with throttle bodies is 175 to 180 bhp , so thats what could happen with just changing them. I had 180 bhp on my old Westie with a 2 ltr blacktop at Northampton Motorsport. The engines are great and shows how they are strangled in a production car.

  7. I had similar thoughts about what to do with them when not in use so I rigged up a support for wind deflectors or side screens on the garage wall,I used a few bits of spare timber and couple of hinges. To support the screens or deflectors I purchased four female mounts. The pictures show it with the side screens attached, I've hinged it so that when the with the wind deflectors attached I have it flat to the wall but with the side screens attached I open it up 90 degrees so that the side screens are flat to the wall. I know the pics are not brilliant but I hope they give you an idea of what I've done.

  8. I had a set of the original ill-fated sticky ITB's which have been replaced by OMEX with a new set and I like them very much. I gained about 18 hp and 10ft/lbs (in the midrange) and that's a good thing of course but the thing I really like is the throttle response. The tip-in is very crisp an immediate and this is no doubt aided by the extra midrange grunt. I like mine and would buy them again. dave P.S. - Happy New Year!

  10. Really enjoyed the whole show, was quite impressed with the Nomad, more capable on the road than I’d ever have guessed, though fun watching the long travel suspension in the corners! i loved the rotating dash, on the Mclaren, though I think (given the opportunity) I’d probably only ever use it to make me chuckle while sat stationary in traffic jams, at the lights etc. Was also quite impressed at how far the TT has come since my BiL had one of the early ones.

  11. Surely there are more things for be aware of on the road, kerbs, debris etc. Not good publicity for the Nomad breaking on camera! I enjoyed all the show and like the bafoonry

  12. I made a pair today, they were easy to make and the sound quality exceeded my expectations. I've not had the chance to test the range on the road but around the house they are very good, thanks for the information on how to make them

  15. Put Christmas back in the loft today, and decided to get some mundane tasks done. Needed a new 2D bulb for the porch and some bulbs for the living room. Take the Westy to Toolstation seemed the obvious answer. Off with it's wrappers, started it up and off we go, it's only a quick 15 minute run, and the weather was just nice enough to enjoy the roof off without feeling too cold. By the time I leave Toolstation, the sky had turned grey and the first spots of rain were landing on the interior ! That's it, long way home it is, if I'm gonna get wet, I might as well get wet having fun. Couple of pleasant hours past, people pointing and laughing ( not sure if at car or me getting wet ) saw a few bikers on vintage machinery, waved and got some nods back, nice to see there are other idiots about ! Got home, unpacked my stuff and threw the roof and cover back on, just in time for the sky to turn blue gain ! Fitted my bulbs at home, then uncovered the Westy again. I have a half hood, and am about to fit a boot tonneau, and want a neat solution to all the poppers and don't really want to use gypsy double studs as I find the don't hold well. So moved the poppers for the side hood loops onto the roll bar, they actually work better here too, and don't pop off as easy when tensioning the hood. Still awaiting a reply form SBFS about boot tonneau, so not fitted that as of yet. I'm thinking of adding a 2nd set of 4 poppers to the rear tub just below the stock ones, so the half hood can be deployed with the boot tonneau on without disturbing it. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'll do first run of 2018 and look into that I reckon. I've really enjoyed the end of 2017, and getting a Westy is one of the main reasons, I've had faster, comfier, quieter cars, but none with quite the sense of occasion that the Westy provides, and none of them that were quite so scary at speeds that you have a chance of retaining your license doing. Roll on 2018
