That extra bit of “history” and the quality of the build will add to the car’s value way more than it’s registration or purchase age. Now it has that bit of info, it is certainly looking like the right price (assuming it does indeed look good in the flesh) Luke @Plays-Kool might also know more. Next step is cough up for full membership as that will be the best value accessory you can add to your new toy4 points

Echo AdgeC here, and the common thread from above. For me the starting point was to decide what I wanted to use the car for, than work backward from was was possible from both a build and cost perspective. I'm very lucky in that I have the full support of my wife and son, and after spending time with my local WF group (Highly recommended) this helped me "tune" what my choice was going to end up at. for me it was the ability to buy a complete kit from WF, as I had experience of watching my father in-law struggle with a Locost, which took him 7 years of trying different bits from brakers, and he's still "tinkering" with his Pinto based car. I personally went for the Sport 250, partly because its a full kit option, and partly from the excellent builds on here so I feel there was nothing I could not emulate. A hidden benefit for me was it got my A*** of the PC playing games all the time, has improved my health as I'm more active, improved my social life with my local group, and I feel part of a community here, with all the excellent support - In short a life changer4 points

We would love to but It's our last Sunday with the kids. We will miss you all loads while we are away as you've all become our friends. At least I can look forward to riding a Royal Enfield in India and some old Russian wreck of a motorbike on some of the Ho Chi Minh trails. Stay safe, happy blatting and see you next year some time. @IanK (Bagpuss) my guess is that your passenger either has a red, Honda engined Westfield, newly IVA'd OR she has big booby's @AndrewBClarke I think last week's low attendance had more to do with that weather girl, Keeley Donavon, and her rain. Did you see her in a ruddy sleeveless, summer dress on Friday night? Disgraceful. At least Glen's other favourite, Louise Lear, was properly dressed this morning AND she forecast good weather for tomorrow.2 points

If anything the age is an advantage! Certain things, like the grp bodywork, were better in the past than they have been for a few years. Its history is a real bonus. As I said in my first post, a car’s age, whether it’s the component age, or the age of first registration, with kit cars like these, is regarded as almost the least important quality about any particular car, when deciding its value. Because of how they’re used and looked after, it’s just not that relevant. In the few photos we have, the condition looks good, that’s the most important thing, the extra history is a real cherry on top though!2 points

All should enter JULIE'S BATTLE OF THE ODO'S! I entered before my AOship and won a prize, with very few miles. Did far more at 4k+ last MOT but can't enter as an AO. Celebrate the mileage you've done - & enter!2 points

Meet at 10am Halfords, Ashbourne, DE6 1DU in readiness for the back roads of the Peak District, to end up at The Tin Hut Coffee Tavern at Pott Shrigley, for lunch at midday. I will be booking a table, as it can get busy, so please let me know if you are joining us. After lunch, it is more twisty roads to make a visit to my current favourite cafe, Tagg Lane Diary, for the biggest slices of cake in the Peak District and/or the yummiest, home made ice cream, in any flavour imaginable. The weather is forecast good, but should they get it wrong (often) I have a plan up my sleeve for roads on lower ground. That's me, certified organised, Mr @aeg1 point

Some people prefer building them than driving them plus it's much easier to pop in the garage to tinker than it is to get out for a blat with weather & time to work around.1 point

from sunny Somerset. I've just built a FW bodied car, the appearance swayed it for me, rather than storage. In case your not aware, you are not limited to Westfields own hoods. You can get half hoods and other weather gear from http://www.softbitsshop.co.uk/westfield-50-c.asp Enjoy your build, whatever you choose. Highly recommend posting a build thread on here when you start, enables you to tap into a wealth of experience. Take loads of photos of cars in build anytime you go to the factory, they make a good reference.1 point

Thanks for the headsup.... Im well versed in asbestos. Leicester uni is that riddled with the stuff that they send anyone who has buildings responsibility on a course.... I have a card to prove it.... Its a constant source of p*** taking cos i sent my staff on it and ladder training... Lol1 point

I wouldn't care a jot what others think. If you're happy with what you paid then you're happy. £12 to someone with very little cash will be a lot of money, so buying in essence a "hobby car" may well be seen as profligate. However, that same £12k to a high-earner will be small change. my point being if everyone replied to your question with the answer "yes, its way over-priced" what would you do? take it back? be unhappy with it for the rest of your ownership? Whatever happens, your outlay has given you the potential for a lot of enjoyment but if you find it isn't for you or needs must then you can always recoup (most) of your money. Westfields tend to hold their value relatively well, not quite as good as Caterhams but much better than your average car. So in 3 to 5 years time you can probably sell for the same £12k barring any mishaps. Your pictures look great and you're probably mad keen to get out and about. Just remember that it's almost end of season now but there's no harm in looking forward to next summer...! One final thing, I have found WSCC membership and forum access absolutely invaluable. My membership costs have been recouped many many times over.1 point
