  2. What to say when you switch on TV watch a Chat show or most panel games and every other word begins with F . How do we teach our children its wrong when every Pop star ( with the exception of Sir Cliff ) can't seem to express there selves without use of the vernacular Unheard of in my day , when the use of even the mildest swear word in front of parents or elders would get you a thick ear ! God knows what the next generation will be like

  3. Can I just gently remind folks that the abitly to post "For Sale" threads is a privilege of being a paid up club member, only. While the club welcomes all new prospective members to sign up to the Boardroom for a one month trial, so that you experience some of the clubs on-line life, certain parts of the Boardroom and the right to do certain things are restricted to full club members, or those taking out a month by month subscription. The club respectfully, would ask those signing up to the free trial membership, not to try and bypass those restrictions by posting sales adverts in other sections of the Boardroom. We will delete any we find. If you have an item to sell, but don't wish to become a full member, you may take out a paid extended trial membership instead, this will allow you to post as many adverts as you like in the extended trial membership period, so is excellent value compared to simply buying advertising space on other sites!

  4. The other thing to remember is that we own our own disc space on our own server and this is one of the things that's enabled us to do the sort of Boardroom updates we've been doing and to host the photographs for members. This is not "free", the membership fees go towards many aspects of the club, this is another small part of that. We also take members security seriously when they are on line, again, there are costs annual associated with this, (ssl certificates etc).

  5. It is indeed a very sad case but to say Doctors are playing god is disingenuous to those in the medical profession. This child by any rational judgment is only alive because the machinery and the skill of those involved in his care and without this he would have already been dead. To compare the two case you have is wrong, the first case was a disagreement of what was the best treatment and it is conceivable that the recovery would have been the same doing what the hospital recommended, he has not been cured by the way, there is still a long way to go there and that child could walk talk breath unaided with full brain function. Sadly Charlie Gard has none of those functions and from everything I have read it is the right decision to withdrawn the machinery that keeps him alive. The parents are understandably upset and have done what they feel is right but now is time to let go. Reading that the mother had been told of kids who had the same terrible illness that their son has who are now riding bikes talking etc. is just giving them false hope. Subjecting this child to treatment is not the right thing. Doctors make life and death decisions every day, they do not play god they act in the best interests of the patient at all times and are bound by strict legal and moral rules. In the case of a child the parents cannot discharge a child if the hospital feel it is not safe to do so, in the case of an adult it is the same and as here courts appoint people to represent them both. This has become a media circus with the Pope, a religious nut job from the States and Trump all getting involved and yet all the medical experts who have seen the case in the UK and in the EU court of appeal all agree GOSH (who are the worlds leading paediatric hospital) are correct. I just hope that this can be concluded and the family can move on, but I fear this will drag on and on and the outcome will still be the same.

  6. Looking good. Is it just me, or were there a disproportionate number of blue cars? I saw whole trains of them! ..is blue the new yellow?

  8. The thing is with a snow lance, is that people get a bit carried away and turn their drives into an alpine snow scene. This may look fantastic and , i do wash my normal cars with this , but using a garden sprayer does a similar job , but with a jet wash and to cover the non- water tight Westie and makes less of a snow scene about it. Geoffreys drive last week

  12. This might be a bit of a sore subject, but I never actually got a photo of Dave's car, it went a bit quick and that was it, done and parked up, oops. The good news is though that I managed a few snaps of the other cars. Stephen's 11 looking very stunningly beautiful. Simon's Westfield, below, is 30 years old, so if you are like me and wondering about the longevity of your car, don't worry, it could possibly out live you. By the size of the smile on his face I think it is safe to say that he is enjoying his first ever entry into the Speed Series. If you want to have a go at entering the Speed Series this car is up for sale, £5500, it lives only a few miles away from Blyton. What are you waiting for? Yet another brilliant day out for the spectators. Our friendly Speed Series were as welcoming as ever and Blyton is always a great little venue. Thank you all

  13. It's the Breakfast Club Meet at Curborough this Saturday, from 8.30am until 11.30am. We will be there from about 10.30am for tyre kicking and bacon butties. At about 11.30 ish we will be going to The Lazy Trout, nr Leek, for lunch. It is a 1 hour 10 minute journey through some of the best Peak District countryside. The view over The Roaches from the beer garden is stunning, but the best news is that the indirect road to it has been resurfaced, it is the lovely, pothole-less black stuff that Westfield owners can normally only dream about. So bring your hairy legs, put them between my camera lens and your car, and we will see what happens!!! (you need to look at the last Curborough gathering photo's for a warm up, prepare yourself) Who is coming?

  14. Birmingham to Wells We left Brum heading south to the Cotswolds via Solihull, Henley in Arden and Stratford Upon Avon. It was then of to Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Cirencester, Tetbury, Badminton, Tormartin, Bath, Cheddar Gorge and finally Wells with a few little stops and detours on the way. Chips and a battered sausage in Cirencester. On this road trip we are maxing at around 5 hours a day or around 120 miles driving so we can treat it like a holiday as well, we've done the 10 hour, 400 milers and fancy a change. Thankfully as some of you know we are taking what I believe they call a "Silver Gap Year" so no need to rush. In Cheddar Gorge we did meet 2 Caterhams from Germany who had been over for the 60th anniversary at Donnington and that were lucky enough to be in the 500 car parade lap. Country or language is no barrier if you love 7's. The parking attendant did come over for his £5 but he loves 7's to so let all 3 of us off. As usual the cars the star and as Gail and I say "Smile and wave" we seem to make a lot of people smile on our journeys, the kids faces are priceless and I don't know what to say about the Chinese, they go nuts. The high light of today despite all the stunning roads and scenery was listening to the Wells Cathedral Choir at evensong, absolutely beautiful. Don't worry we're not going religious!

  16. Oh no, that is the worst news ever in the world. Glen absolutely loves those cars, this could be a very expensive day out. The main lady there is called Julie and they seem a friendly and approachable lot. How much then, for someone to keep Glen busy talking Westfields all morning? Name your price

  18. I work in a factory where swearing is the norm, and yes me included, but it stops when I get home and mostly when I'm out too, although the odd one does pop out from time to time. I don't do it in front of my 23 and 19 year old children, they probably use it more than me, in fact, I only remember my dad, who was in the RAF and worked in industry all his life use the F word twice.

  20. Making this a paid up member privilege means that the forum is full of useful and helpful info rather than spam, drivel* and flame wars. Although it may seem unfair - as there's plenty of places on the web to post 'for free' - it really works for us and has kept this place a reliable and friendly source of Westy related info. *note we do have a 'stuff and nonsense' section for that though, so can cater for all tastes really

  26. When I remove the spare I carry a small electric pump and and a plugging kit. Sometimes you can get a slow puncture and pumping it up until you get home will suffice.

  27. Do you carry a tyre puncture kit? I did think the same thing about removing the spare but that's the time I'd get a puncture

  28. I gave mine a detail last year with my DA and was amazed how much it brought out the colour. The GRP is nothing like normal car paint and dulls way more. For wax, I'm a big fan of Victoria wax concours. For sealant finishkare 1000p high temp wax is the best I've used. Amazing shine and last for an impressive amount of time. A mate of mine has has been playing about with ceramic sealants, bit of a pain to apply but the results are crazy good!!! Im in the market for a new drying cloth, recommendations?

  31. The road across Dartmoor that @b16gnrhas mentioned is a great road. Starting in Tavistock which is a beautiful town and worth a stop up to Princetown then across the high moors to Mortenhampstead. If you venture up to the North Cornish coast then a particular favourite of mine is Starting in Rock which is opposite side of the river from Padstow then follow the coast road to Port Isaac, Tintagel, Boscastle and then on to Bude. Each of these places is worth a visit and the road has some spectacular views with steep hills and very tight bends. The North coast is very rugged and I think much nicer than the South. Hope you have a great time and that the weather is kind. John

  37. Welcome! I grew up in Chalfont St Peter. As mentioned earlier, the HBB meet is this Thursday at the Grove Lock in Leighton Buzzard, come along and have a chat. As for garage recommendations, there really is only one place to go - MH Autos in Milton Keynes. Martin is a member on here, a really great bloke who knows Westfields inside out and he competes in his own too. He'll be at the meet on Thursday so you can meet him, ask whatever questions you like and get booked in! (No I'm not on commission! He's basically rebuilt mine for me & is my go to guy for everything, as well as being a great mate. He was the 2015 novice champ and helped me to become the 2016 novice champ, so pedigree is assured!!). Hope to meet you and see your car soon All the best Barny
