  2. Don't forget that the target times are effectively the class record, so if you are a novice, or even simply not familiar with that venue, you should be surprised if you get anywhere near the target time!

  8. Yes there are, which would include that of surface spread of flame. I'm avoiding commenting or speculating too much at the moment though as I'm in France and have been since the fire occurred. I would like to gather all the facts myself as to design of the building and who carried out the statutory inspections of the work before I say much more rather than relying on the media reports.

  10. Unfortunately not Mike. If the alterations to the building had been designed and constructed to comply with UK regulations which in this case would have been the Build Act 2000 then by that very nature you are deemed to comply with the law. Criminal Responsibility can only be apportioned if the law has been broken. Regardless of what the Building Regulations and Build Act says though this accident has shown that a rethink of some of the current regulations needs to be carried out as a matter of urgency Once all the facts are fully known.

  11. And remember to service them on a regular basis. A few years ago I did a car boot at Sodbury (big Landrover event near Newbury) and at the end of the day I had two very old (over 10 years) fire extinguishers left. Instead of binning them me and my brother decided to use them (as you do after a couple of beers). Despite being correctly 'charged' hardly anything came out. Now I keep a log of the extinguishers I have in my phones diary as a reminder to service or replace them at set intervals.

  12. I have a son who is a firefighter. They are well trained and will do all they can to save lives even if technically they are exceeding the 'management's' and h+s' requirements.

  13. I'm sure you did.... but you remembered to hold the throttle open while doing the compression test didn't you? The readings can be artificially low on shut throttle plates.

  16. Was given a long sleep in this morning and got to open my Fathers Day presents ... a pair of 'classic' Sparco racing shoes and a framed embroidery of 'Roary'. Well chuffed and I'm just going out on a 'short' blat to test out the shoes :-) @Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO please thank Elizabeth again for an exceptional piece of work that looks great in the frame. She has a real talent and I bet there are others on the forum that would love something similar.

  17. Thanks Andy, she is taking orders for the embroidery. If anyone is interested, please contact me and we will sort something out . I will be starting a proper thread for this soon.

  31. Always assumed everyone else is an idiot, amazing the number of times I've been proved right. DashCam on my'n and Mrs car now, just far to many of the idiots around. Must admit there have been a few times I have thought a big Toyota Land Cruiser with an RSJ across the front would be a great idea, could ensure said idiots life span is a bit shorter

  32. Cracking roads, scenery and company, a mega time and thanks to my colleagues for making it great fun. Everywhere we went the cars were the stars! We based our tour at the Moorfield Motel in Ullapool, top accommodation ideal for location, facilities, food, a certain well named beer that can't be mentioned !!! and great that your car is right outside your room.
