  1. Just found out that camping is my best option. Will try and book it tomorrow. I'll bring my flag. See you all there.

  2. Yes, after 9 years off the road, all back working again. The ali was treated to some Autosol yesterday and sort of shining! Car now in "Parc fermé" in my garage - all set for the big day on Saturday

  3. Well unfortunately the time has come for me to sell my beloved track car. This is only for sale due to an expansion of the family. Please see the link below for full details. Obviously reasonable offers will be considered. I am sure if you consider how many thousands of pounds it has taken to create this one off you can understand the listed price. The individual parts prices alone come to a lot more than the listed car price. The vehicle really has to be seen to be appreciated. This is not your usual track car rubbish. Paintwork is more like a show car, and has no battle scars etc. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorsport/race-cars/tin-tops/ford-fiesta-2-3-cosworth-duratec-race-car/5955496?v=c

  5. That would have been me dave. If I wasn't at the car I was probably diving out the rain (again) mine was the caged one with black bonnet the other red one was my dad's and the green one was a father and son who built it in 1990 I think again with anyone who has a Westfield they were very friendly. Was a nice bit of banter between us and the catering van owners who were walking past aswell

  8. There is sometimes confusion from the plated weight of a Westfield, which will say 900 kg. in one section. However, that is the maximum gross weight, ie with luggage driver and passenger. It is the max. laden weight which should not be exceeded. Although I've never had one, it is my understanding that a Westie with a V8 Rover engine and corresponding heavy gearbox, with full carpet set and side screens, heater and hood only comes in at around 750 kg., and that's about as heavy as a Westie comes. I'd be surprised if the O/P's car is much more than 650 kg. even with full screen and hood etc.

  9. My old 2.0 Silvertop in full trim weighed 615kg. Admittedly this was on 13" wheels and had a couple of lightweight components fitted but I would say 650kg would be a prudent estimate of max weight

  10. Good to see everyone at Ashover. I even managed to get back in time to hitch up the horse trailer for Gemma. I think a larger diameter wheel and tyre combination beckons to get a bit more ground clearance but I was OK getting out of the field again, and have spent a while removing grass from the exhausts and gearbox this afternoon. See you again soon. Luke.

  12. Our Essex car engined cars are all under 650kg... http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/119520-essex-area-weight-watchers-round-3-10th-july-2016/page-5#entry1265959

  13. All depends on what the complete spec is. 650-700 would be my guess for the average road car

  14. The thing is though, Westfields aren't transport, they're a hobby. So as long as they fulfil your requirements as a hobby, be it racing, driving, polishing or tinkering, it doesn't matter, they work for you.
