  1. Well today I left Hereford at 11.20am, got home at 6.15pm and told Carol to put her coat on and to leave tea in the oven. What the devil were the first words....... Jumped in Buttercup and took her to Flamborough lighthouse and wined and dined her.........Gin and Tonic with added cucumber and a chocolate orange.

  2. If that's your only problem get a dog. They're far more faithful and it won't care how ugly or dumb you might be

  4. I was extremely disappointed with my recent interactions with a main Ford dealer. When I called them to arrange test drives I couldn’t have made it more clear that I was a Petrol head (emphasis on the word Petrol) and I had money to spend and I wanted an ST something and pretty much wanted it now. As it had been a bloomin cold night and I was worried about road conditions I drove to the dealer on the test route I had in mind (the B4632) to check it out. And it was a mess and the fact there was really varied sunlight / shadows meant road conditions were not only bad, but utterly unpredictable. Even the Mundane on full winter Dunlops was struggling in some places. So when I arrived at the garage I said, “There is no point in a test drive, roads are too bad, lets just talk money and buying options and I will take them for a taz later” I got the reply “Oh don’t worry, take it on the bypass, that’s perfectly OK” – so take a Focus ST, which it is obvious I am buying to hoon around corners in, for a run on the bypass… This was not looking good but I wandered over to the Focus for a look see. As we walk over I comment “how amazed I was that the DERV was only 6kg heavier than the petrol so the 60/40 weight distribution would effectively be the same”, he looked at me and “you really know your cars, I hate cars” And then we get to the car which had Goodyear Eagle boots on it. Full on summer tyres on a mega torquey car in winter with extremely dubious road conditions. I went out and came back 2 miles later, what was the point. It accelerated and it stopped, that about all I could figure out. Didn’t even bother starting the engine on the Fiesta… I know I was expecting too much, but I was REALLY looking forward to testing a few cars and cheering myself up by buying one. And the dealership experience really upset me, they didn’t care if they were selling cars, bananas or hair extensions, they were just items… So I went home, phoned Grizzlee up and shouted at him about the whole experience for about an hour. And he wouldn’t stop laughing, which really didn’t help. The more he laughed, the angrier I got which made him laugh more. Note to all – he is a total git…

  5. I spent a few hours on the frame this afternoon and got it finished. Rear hoop and seat mounts welded in: I also made a small battery box and welded a bracket underneath the swing arm to mount it. I just need to weld the aluminium box up Mike

  6. Besides the idiotic vandalism, there's a bigger point - the fact hospitals charge doctors and nurses to park at their own place of work, if there's any space at all, and don't lay on park and ride schemes. More great caring by NHS beauracrats.

  7. Its all academic really. If you can afford a £40k car you can afford the tax. We're saving about 30% on petrol at the moment anyway.

  8. I don't have any details of the owner now but do you have this one on your list? I saw it back in 2009 at my local car show the Helmingham Festival of Classics in Suffolk. The owner and his wife were also members of the East Anglian Lotus Club and were displaying the car on their stand.

  12. You Sir are an utter Bar Steward...!!! Just clocked it... And the best thing was the timing, I was on a work conference call (thankfully internal only) and was doing a bit of browsing as I was bored. The flow of the call was somewhat interrupted with an unexpected and violent interjection of "THAT ####ING B######D"

  13. Interestingly their web site still has it at £13,995, so the £13,495 sticker price was already a drop. Effectively its £1k down in total - not bad. I was expecting more interest in persuading me to take it. Look I've already made it clear I've been rejected in love and I was just wanting attention..! He has got a Mountune Fiesta ST2 in Ford BLUE (yes) coming in March time. I've asked for first refusal on that.

  17. They do have a regular meet at the waterpark, like the last Tuesday of the month or something like ... the main Bosworth park has the alligator teeth on the car park exit which are not Westfield friendly But agree with The Rocker, the roads are great around Bosworth - can't beat that fresh smell of much spreading .. we should do something 'local' when the weather bucks up a bit and I've got the car back together ....

  18. You could try Mike Burrows - not too far away from you, although he's more into bicycles these days he has a motor sport background so would know what you are talking about. He doesn't do the computer bit, so need to phone him, if you phone him tell him Ian Perry gave you the tip off, actually second thoughts better not because i always beat him when we race. 20. Was wondering if this request could be considered? Might be a rubbish idea but was going to road tax westie on the 1st of March and if meeting was on the first Sunday in March was going to go to the meeting in the westie. If it's a no then no problem will still be there but in the tin top. What do you think?

  22. From 2006 a diesel engined car won the LeMas 24Hr for 9 consecutive years. The revs and torque didn't seem to cause them many problems
