I checked this out last night and was going to drop you a note. Didn't know if you (or any others) wanted to come all this way east but was going to suggest trying the Woodhall Spa thingy in the morning (it starts at 11) and moving on to Doddington Hall in the afternoon. I did not go to the Woodhall Spa County Wheels last year (which was its first year) but a lot of people and cars did. There was some congestion which is rare over here! If the County Wheels is not up to much, we can always disappear for a drive over the Wolds to Louth before going back to Lincoln.1 point

Hi, I recently sold my Westfield to a dealer from Milan, not too far from you. It is the British Racing Green Zetec currently on their web site:- http://www.autoemotorisnc.com/index.html Simone Mapelli has a few Westfields for sale which are imported from the UK, so I think there is an opportunity to form a "Lombardy" region of the Westfield Owners Club!! I hope you enjoy the new car on those twisty mountain roads.... Ciao Simon.1 point

Excuse me Andrew, my information is wrong, the Horsepower at the Hall is later in starting this year. The first one is 24th April, which happens to be the same day as 'County Wheels Day' in Woodhall Spa. You know what I am thinking don't you? County Wheels AM and Horsepower at the Hall PM. Keep clicking the Like button on facebook Andrew, it keeps me on my toes.1 point

Haha, well it's encouraging to know I've self-taught the 'correct' method I'll admit I'm young enough to have never needed to DDC. Will have to give it a go1 point

LOL, that is what I love about this forum, I come here admitting to being a big girl and find out I'm actually normal..! And bless you Adam for the Senna video. 1, he's a driving God, (sorry 'was'...) and 2, and it seems that me and Ben are doing it the right way...1 point

Agreed with all of the above Anything from no ankle rotation to about 45 degree rotation works fine. It's just down to personal preference and pedal setup. And just because it's a good excuse to post this video... (Here's another less interesting example I filmed a while back: YouTube)1 point

Whilst I don't double declutch, I do tend to H&T as a matter of course in both my daily Impreza and the Westfield. I find that my aproach varies with the car's pedal setup and the pair of shoes that I'm wearing, but generally the most effective way for me (and my small girlie feet) is to 'roll' my foot on the brake pedal and press the accelerator with the right-hand edge of my foot. Sounds a bit weird I guess, but I can now do it pretty much every time under hard or soft braking without affecting the pressure on the brake pedal.1 point

I think heel and toe is a slight misnomer, I have seen a number of articles on the subject and heel and toe is not quite true to what happens these days. I fond this on Wikipedia "The name stems from pre-WW2 vehicles where the accelerator pedal was in the centre (between the clutch on the left and the foot brake to the right). The brake was able to be operated with the heel whilst the accelerator pedal could be simultaneously pressed with the toe. The technique is carried out in modern cars by operating the brake with the toe area, while rocking the foot across to the right to operate the throttle with the right side of the foot. With practice, it becomes possible to smoothly and independently operate both pedals with one foot. The technique is common in all forms of motorsport," I must admit it's something I do need to practice as it seems more important in the Westfield than it has in the Tin Tops I've had.1 point

I think it would be very suitable for some of the Peak District roads we have been on lately, particularly in the ice and snow1 point

Fellow members, First of all, a very happy New Year to all of you! 2016 just happens to be the 30th anniversary of the founding of the WSCC, a significant milestone in our history that we will be marking and celebrating this year in a number of ways. One you already know about - our club stand at the Silverstone Classic on 29-31 July. The club's 30th anniversary is the reason we are being given the opportunity to do a parade lap around the GP circuit on Saturday the 30th, a detail we had to keep secret from you until today. We also today recognise the club's longest serving member, David Jenkins. David joined the club in 1986 while building his pre-lit, which he still owns! He has been a member all these thirty years, and was Member #1010 (effectively Member #10, as membership numbers started at 1000). The Committee decided to recognise and reward this achievement by bestowing Life Membership to David effective from today. Finally (for now anyway - more fun as the year goes on, you don't get to know about all the goodies today!) and back to the Silverstone parade lap. As we're celebrating our 30th, it's only appropriate we celebrate our Westfields that are thirty or more years old. Therefore, the Silverstone parade lap will be led by David Jenkins and his 1986 pre-lit... along with all WSCC members driving their pre-lits. So you pre-lit owners, book your Silverstone Classic tickets now, you're going to be the leaders and stars of the WSCC Parade Lap! So happy anniversary WSCC - here's to a great year ahead and to many more years to come!1 point
