  1. The Greek Bailout Explained ! It is a slow day in a little Greek Village. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the taverna. The publican slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note. The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the €100 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole village is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism. And that is how the bailout package works!

  3. The first running of a breakfast club meeting at Curborough Sprint Track today saw a good number of cars and quite a lot of sun! A variety of classic cars, sports cars and hot hatches together with a couple of Cobras and four WSCC members and cars. The cafe provided very good breakfasts and refreshments at reasonable cost and there were some sprinters running cars to set up for the Sunday event to provide appropriate noise and viewing. Well worth a visit in the future if it continues though there is no indication of future dates but I will post up if I find out.

  4. "Should I worry about my lack of ambition..?" Absolutely not, be your own man, there is so much more to life than being what others expect you to be.

  5. Knew I'd miss something... 100% agreed there - so much work goes on behind the scenes for events like this, they are not created overnight! Huge thanks to Panda John and everyone else who got it all sorted out

  6. It was an excellent (if long) day, thank you to Adam for giving up your time to help us inexperienced track day drivers. If fact thanks to every one who gave their time willing to organise a great day out. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, hopefully I'll be able to make it next year.

  7. Some of the behavior you see on these site wouldn't be allowed on the track The road is for the transporting and mobility of everyone Road tax is TAX not a way of buying extra road speed privileges Everyone has a right to use it within the rules of the Highway Code, pedestrians, cyclists, horses, tractors and cars I once lost 7 friends on bikes in one day by someone showing off in a car while he walked away with a ban and a fine It's not funny or cleaver and with the police having to do home visits victims families you can see why they follow up videos like that one Not to mention the cost of an accident to the public isn't it about 1 million for a fatal accident He should leave that behavior for drift days on track

  9. Guess I qualify (although with all the food and drink I've had the last two weeks, I don't even know if I'll get back in it!), so before I walk along the beach for more cocktails, let's start it at £10 to get the ball rolling.

  10. Cheers for the compliments, struggle trying to modernise the car, but keeping the classic looks. But webers are for me the chirping on part throttle and the growling on full throttle .

  11. Suggested route if you guys want to take in St Andrews first and avoiding all the recent 20 30 40 mph limits put in place through Fife even on main routes. If St Andrews after lunch then reverse of the last section or if not at all fair enough.

  12. What I do is I wash as normal with sponge/water and Aldi's finest car shampoo, I use a wet tea towel instead of the sponge, to remove flies/etc. Make sure the towel has never seen a high temp wash and/or fabric softener though, as both of these make towels rigid and hard. Then when it's nearly dry I get out the Mer polish. I use Mer because it's was once favoured by bikers for GRP fairing.

  13. I am not saying he was right, my concern is that we are running into a world of problems with camera footage and social media being used to such effect. Here is an example, I had a driver who was near to Aldermarston. A cyclist posted footage from his helmet cam on Youtube with the caption, FPS driver nearly killed me. On that footage it looked awful, but when you saw the in van footage we had, the cyclist just pulled straight across the front of the van with no warning, he did well to avoid him. When we sent him our footage he simply posted on Youtube he had had a satisfactory out come. Now as in this case, another viewer could have sent that original footage to the police and without another view our driver might have been convicted. So when others have posted footage on here or we describe going for a "hoon" or a "blast" or some other term, we need to be aware that some will chose to see that differently than we do and it may come back to haunt us. As I said in this case, what happened is footage was used that was posted on line, without his knowledge. The punishment does not fit the crime at all in my opinion, but due to the publicity it has raised perhaps that is what they wanted.

  14. I use tcut every now and again, the gel coar is coloured all the way through so you can be quite agressive with it - used wet and dry to get deep marks out from the spare wheel.

  16. My second Alfa, and current daily driver. And my first, which I owned for nearly 10 trouble free years until the big ends went driving home from test driving the Guilietta.

  17. Some good points, but some of you assume that everyone has the typical "wannabe middle class ambitions", the management job, the German saloon on the drive, the 4 bedroomed detached house, the 2-3 kids, the German shepard and the horse/pony for daughter No1. My ambitions revolve(d) around creating things, solving problems and making a difference. If I happen to make a wad of cash on the way then so be it, but that's not what's important to me. Unfortunately people like me either get used by the above OR feared by them.
