  1. That was me :-) Lost it the other week and not had time to order a new one. Left the tape on so I could use the We did pass the law as they was waiting to pull out of a side road. So I got close to the back of Daves car to hide the lack of plate :-)

  2. lord march tickled me with his comments on "replicas" not being allowed at GFOS , practically all of vintage racers at goodwood have been rebuilt to such an extent that the only original parts are a few body panels the drive train and perhaps some parts of the suspension , in most cases the engine and transmission internals have all been replaced with modern components which have been engineered to a degree that would have been impossible to achieve in period . there are even cases of whole cars being "restored" when the only original parts used have been the engine block and back axle

  3. Afternoon All. Thanks for the great comments and advice. Well we are all loaded up and also have a spare can of fuel in the car. We have also traveled out for the past hour or so and happy with how Buttercup travels with a load. We have said that we shall go in Buttercup and if the weather is so bad we dont enjoy it, then we will come back for the tintop [ subject to where we are and how long left on the holiday.] we have driven around Scotland a few times but so looking forward to this trip. Carol and my daughters try so hard every year to get me to go abroad but I say Scotland.

  4. Yeah it's ford frozen white. Was the brightest one I could find. It was close between that and Audi ibis white Didn't know that I'd set some car alarms off. Childish but well happy about that. May have to have a run up to the top floor of the local multistory car park see how many I can do in one hit :-)

  7. If anyone does fancy doing a Triangle run at some point in June/July, drop me a PM please! Like as not, I WON'T be announcing it on the Boardroom, but will keep everyone up to date via PM. I WILL post up on the Boardroom about a Snowdonia/Triangle/Horse Shoe Pass run in the next few weeks or so though.

  8. Great photos, shame I couldn't join you all. Just returned from New Quay today, nearly 5 hours to do 150ish miles! Why do folk drive at 40 for miles and miles, no one tries to overtake and oh if I was to overtake just the car in front, how the horns would blow! Totally different being in Westie mind

  10. Hi buttercup. I did the nc500 last week and a bit more in my eBay find ford puma finishing with a track day at knock hill. Not wishing to dampen the enthusiasm but the roads are quite varied and I really enjoyed something with a roof, compliant suspension and a radio. I am old though. I have done 800 miles in a day in a westie with 7 hours of rain and never missed my westie in Scotland. Its a beautiful country and I spent hours looking out the window at legal speeds and then driving hard at legal speeds another day on a single track road. All round top fun. In my westie I would have been waiting for a wincing grounding moment..... If you go in your westfield make sure your ride height can cope. Fuel is frequent but variable in price, take a spare can for emergencies. Cheers jon

  15. Mind you, it does always amaze me how many shades of (automotive) white and black there are! (I don't mean the cream colours, or proper greys). But there are lots of quite subtle variations between makers, some of the whites are quite cool, others richer and warmer.
