  2. That was an excellent weekend! All praise to Longton for having the courage to take on arranging the event and then coming up with such a smoothly run couple of days. To those competing everything appeared to run like clockwork. From the marshall in the upper paddock counting down when we were due to set-off to the start line, always being told when a red flag was out, to the excellent catering an refreshments, the location and an extremely challenging track I echo Pauls comment that it has to go down in my experience as one of the all-time enjoyable motor sport weekends. Many thanks to everyone at Longton who must have put in huge amounts of time and effort to pull-off such a success. It is much appreciated. I sincerely hope that it can be repeated in 2015. (Oh - It was only during a chat before prize giving that I found out that Longton also arranged all the side showas as well (the middle-ages re-enactment, the archery, face painting, model car racing, etc). 7. The real problem is this will mean the MSA will have to bring in loads of legislation to ensure it doesn't happen again, which is likely to be more cost and hassle for organisers. It's not as if it was a genuine mistake. The idiot did it for fun. It's a shame he didn't do it in a banger racing event

  8. Glad your sorted. My diff has run Halfords oil previously without issue, strange really as I work for Ford!

  9. Hellski, it's the weight of the helmet and the power from the supreme Zetec.... I have to weight train like Jensen button to prepare my neck and shoulders for the mighty cross flow.... :-)

  14. hi all, well put another 200 miles on the car thursday/friday and today and it was a pleasure to drive .I sorted out the oil pressure gauge by changing the sensor and i added a stack oil temperature sensor in the oil sandwich plate area as i had a 1/8 connection point there. Now running 3 bar cold , warm idle 2 bar and peak pressure when driving to the speed limit hits 4 bar at 9k rev limiter. I have to say that on these rough roads and corners etc the nitrons perform very well and i don t feel the tracking effect when overtaking over the white line as i do in the same place as the honda s2000 . one little niggle is the throttle pedal to brake petal is a little tight but with size 10 shoes maybe i should use a sleeker fitting shoe has anyone else got a similar setup and any feedback on possible fixes, it not major just me being fussy and used to these type of cars .Also added a Cat 2 immobiliser as together insurance stated that i needed one and club membership proof so had this fitted locally just a key fob type .Really enjoyed the driving and only suffered with my back when getting in and out and a few hard bumps in the road , i must say once strapped in the seats are really comfy and well worth the upgrade to the leather ones.Anyone else in the west wales area out and about tomorrow looking for a meet up maybe and do a bit of driving etc . thanks greg

  15. Oh dear..... just spoke to the garage who I'd asked to look at finetune my timing after struggling myself and they were struggling too... So they did a crank compression test and are saying they are only seeing 125psi on two cylinders and about 65psi on the back two. Now I know the engine was making 155-165psi across all cylinders at the end of last year so something clearly isn't right. (car is making good oil pressure - 70psi cold, 40-50psi hot, no bottom end knocking and is pulling fine - though isn't 100% smooth hence it going in for the timing looking at). There is an oil leak at the pulley end which I knew about - looks to be around the oil pump housing - and a little is getting onto the belts but not enough to cause any problems. They aren't going to go any further or charge me for their time (which always worries me ) so I'm going to collect it tomorrow morning and take a look myself. What should my plan of attack be? Redo the compression tests myself and see if I get similar results? If I do, add some oil and try to eliminate a bottom-end problem? And if that's ok then what...? North Weald on Friday looking unlikely again now.

  16. I converted to wide track and very pleased that I did. Gives a better feel on the road and a big improvement on track. There are others on here much more able to tell you why but you won't regret the conversion!
