First meeting point at Kilmahog for those of us from central Scotland. Just as we were about to leave, our world famous internationally renowned rapstar buddy, Snoop "is it coz my Westfields black" Doveedov spotted a bunch of his fans wanting his autograph and decided he would hide, or it may just have been that his accelerator cable had snapped Luckily the headless Steeeeeeeve Smith, had a spare in his car and it was quickly changed and we were on our way. On one of our fuel stops at Loch Carron, Kyle our support van driver had a run in with the local mechanic who had been driving past our convoy. The driver then stopped, turned his car round and chased the van and found us all parked by the Loch. The driver didn't realise the van was with us, but apparently he wasn't very happy with the hand gesture Kyle had given him after he'd forced Kyle into the verge at the side of the road. However, his bravery quickly deserted him when he realised that the 20 guys in the loud cars were actually Kyles mates and 1 small mechanic v 20 Scotsmen gasping for a beer, wasn't going to end well for him and he was quickly sent on his way Kyle, was then known as "Kyle Van Wa*ker" for the rest of the weekend. It was nice to see another orange car in amongst the sea of yellow Friday night in the aptly named "caravan of luuuurve", saw a real bromance starting. Whether it was his fame as an international rapstar that attracted big Fid to SnoopDoveedov or the fact that he was wearing what we could only guess was his wifes blouse that night (Snoop, nobody believes you that it was a mans shirt! ), but the pair were inseperable, the romance between them would have brought a tear to a glass eye, or at least a tear to SnoopDoveedovs eyes if big Fid had got him into the bedroom You can see almost feel the love between them as they gazed lovingly into each others eyes when they held hands. The blast to Skye on Saturday was wet to say the least which cancelled our planned tour of the Island. We just stopped in the first carpark and hit the pub for a coffee and a chance to dry out a bit. Sunday morning saw the heavy rain continuing We had high winds during the Saturday night and big Kev has learned a valuable lesson, that you need to fit bungy cords to your overnight cover, especially if its an aero screened car, or it will just blow off and leave you with your very own Westfield submarine! Despite the bad weather, it was another cracking weekend with a great bunch of guys and good to have a couple of newcomers join us in the shape of Judder and Dave from the North of Scotland. Ian (Telomerase) and especially Craig (Jumpy) deserve a special mention for their efforts to make it up to Applecross after Ians fuel pump died and Craigs car got intimate with a hairdresser in an Audi TT. Their dedication to make it up to camp McWesty after those mishaps, shows how highly regarded the weekend is by us Jocks. Roll on the next one.2 points

Those of you enjoying the Speed Series, or sprinting with other series will no doubt be familiar with the Ty Croes event. For those that aren't, the Lancashire & Cheshire Car Club and MG Car Club North West have been organising sprints at the fantastic Anglesey circuit for over eighteen years. The events have always been hugely popular, with a tremendous atmosphere and often heavily over subscribed - club folk lore is full of stories of us turning up at Sarah and Martins house the morning the entry forms & regs landed on our door steps. The WSCC has been a big supporter of this event. In recognition of this, Sarah and Martin, (the event secretaries), have extended a personal invite to the rest of the WSCC, we are all welcome! The plan is, to have the WSCC gathering on the Sunday, and during the lunch time interval between timed runs, we will have a parade around the circuit with a photo taken of as many Westfield’s on track as we can get. We need to start to get some numbers for Sarah. She is happy to help by putting aside an area for us to congregate in. This is potentially an excellent publicity opportunity for the club. (As well as a cracking day out spectating and having our piccie taken). We've had stunning photos of "Westfield Avenue" at Stoneleigh, the infamous Manchester to Stoneleigh M6 photos, lets try and get a great turn out for a shot of the largest number of cars we can, in their natural habitat. Bullet points: Sunday 1st September, the sprint is all day, parade lap at mid-day. Ty Croes circuit Anglesey We will have a "club area" to park up in. This is not a track day or competitive event, it will be a (brisk I imagine!) parade lap, with photos. It's a perfect opportunity for local areas to arrange scenic runs through some of Wales finest roads to get to and from the circuit. Please lets get a tally of numbers going - sign up in the post below!1 point

Had a good day at Mallory on Sunday just gone! Qualifying was rain-affected, the heavens opened towards the end which saw a couple of cars diving for the pits having done their quickest laps. Mine was quick enough for 3rd in class. However, I decided to stay out and play around with unconventional lines, which seemed to help in the race... Race 1 - lined up alongside Tom and behind Chris, I was hoping for at least a half decent start otherwise my visibility would be seriously compromised! We were the first race after lunch and it had been raining for an hour solid, so the track was soaked... Luckily I got away well, making a couple of places and then a couple more when Jeremy and Clive fired off to the left before Gerrards (both of them via Jon's bonnet!). From there I managed to get inside Chris, somehow find some grip and keep a reasonable (class) lead, pushing some of the Mk3 guys unatil I went straight on at the hairpin and needed a few seconds on the grass to turn around  After this I spent most of the race by myself slip sliding around, picking off backmarkers every now and again. It appeared that a lot of very wet trackdays over winter hadpaid off, I felt much more comfortable letting the car 'loose' and controlling slides even at some fairly high speeds. Somehow by the end of the race I'd lapped up to and including 4th in our class - but Amy was closing in and would have caught me given a couple more laps... Still, it felt like a 'genuine' win as I'd had to work pretty hard, not like at Snetterton last year which was a bit hollow. 'Highlights' vid from Race 1 is here: It was pretty windy all day so by Race 2 the track was mostly dry, with a few damp bits offline. Once again I made a pretty decent start (for me!) and managed to keep Amy at bay - from there I managed to stick to the back of the Mk3s pretty well (apart from the straight coming out of the hairpin), and had a chance at passing Ian up the inside of the hairpin. Like last year on Paul, I gave it a go but it didn't quite go to plan... I tagged Ian's rear wheel with my front wing and bumper (sorry!) in a fairly hard hit. Luckily it didn't put either of us out of the race, but Ian did say he had a vibration for the remaining laps Sorry again... After that the blue flags were, erm, a little less sparing than they should have been, which made it impossible for me to catch Ian again, but I still had fun making some passes on some of the other Mk1s. This time I managed to lap up to and including 3rd while Tom was snoozing following a yellow flag area  The race was stopped a bit early due to a crash involving Simon and the barriers, meaning an ambulance was sat on the outside of Gerrards for a couple of laps... A good decision I think. Pleased to report he had a check up at the local hospital and was discharged the same evening. Hope to see you at Anglesey! The usual post- race chat in the scrutineering bay made me reliase I'd not changed any of the car setup after the wet race, oops! It obviously worked though. Here's Race 2's vid: So, overall, was pretty happy with how the car felt and how the day had gone. Looking at the data and times by Rob last year (mid 56s!) though I still have plenty of work to do...! It shows I wasn't trailing the brakes in anywhere near enough, leaving time at each of the braking zones (and thus I could have held onto the straight speed a bit longer too). Mallory isn't the sort of place you want to fire it off like I did at Donington though, so it was probably a safe bet holding back a touch, especially given the dampness off line... The three laps highlighted are pretty consistent, but it does show if I'd have put together my best sectors I'd have been down at 57.1 rather than 57.9. Slipstreaming seems to pay a significant part in the fastest laps (video of them will be added later) with an extra couple of mph being gained at the ends of the straights - good to know for future And here's a short video of 4 laps (Lap 19-22 inclusive on the data) with data overlay - helps explain the low speed through the chicane on the blue trace! Cheers, Adam1 point

and surely it would have been more apt to use this stunt for Red Bull (gives you wings...)1 point

Thursday lunchtime I was taking a quick stroll around the spectator areas, checking out the views on the start line.... The track was closed off and all was quiet except for a few official service vehicles doing their final checks. Then in the distance up at the ford chicane I can just make out the unmistakeable outline of a sevenesque car which has somehow snuck by all the security and got onto the track Kudos to you sir Passing by the stands and on it's way up to the dunlop bridge, it was a Westfield So time to own up, who was it ?
