Gadgetman, Sorry to disagree, they do not DESERVE a hard time. They have a hard time and we should be constructive with our suggestions, as you rightly say. However, if anyone feels that passionate shouldn't they step forward and take up a job on the committee? I've been there in other clubs. It's a thankless task and many times I had to sit and count to 10 (sometimes very slowly and loudly). Members can be a real pain in the backside. I've said it before but my experience says 10% do all the work and the remaining 90% complain about it.

With most sprints you get 2 practice runs and 2 or 3 timed runs. At Llandow you get almost 2 laps of the circuit on each timed run because your start from behind the control tower, do a full lap and then finish at the start of the pit straight. On paper sprints look poor value but it is the competitive element that makes all the difference. I get a bit bored at track days. I wouldn't worry about being slow - in many ways you are also competing against your own times. Also there will be lots of people pleased to offer advice on lines and technique.

No harm in being picky when you're right...
