  1. Re wind deflectors. I've found that whatever I use along the edge of the deflector, it still rubs a little. Best I've found is to stick something to the body work so the deflectors rub against it. It's no problem to remove, even if there is a little sticky stuff left on the tub, a light dusting of white spirit will remove. Big old dome sticky pads from B&Q with a little slit cut into them to seat the deflector work best.

  7. A huge, huge thanks to Russell from Westfield Parts department. There are not enough emoticons here to express my gratitude. My trip to Blyton for the track day and to help out on Saturday started early Thursday morning, leaving my house in North London and heading to Birmingham Business Park for a morning's work, then off to Blyton. All going OK, even the dodgy fuel gauge seemed to right itself. I left Brum and got as far as the Lichfield road on my way to Blyton when the clutch cable snapped! Of course I don't have a spare on me, so after an hour of faffing about to see if I could fix it, I called Westfield and quickly got through to Russell in parts. Russell checked he had a cable and I bought it over the phone. I then explained the predicament I was in - about as far away from home and Blyton as I could possibly be! We thought it unlikely that I could get to the factory for five so I could pick up and fit and I asked if they had their lowloader and could they get to me - the answer was no. I'm b*******ed then or so I thought... Thoughts started re getting me home with a busted car, or somewhere near the factory and local B&B, or recovery to Blyton and hope I can get someone to help there. However - and again I'm eternally grateful. Russell said he thought I was a “bit stuck” and volunteered to drive out to me after work and help fit the new clutch cable! What a star! What excellent service! Russell duly arrived sometime after closing - he never said but I suspect he was stuck in traffic for a good half hour too. I'm so grateful to you Russell for coming out and fitting, it was not the best way to spend your free time and not the best of weather to be crawling under a Westy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  8. Above and beyond for sure - many thanks to Russell for his excellent service. I have copied Julian and Frank on an email to the same effect.

  9. Well guys I can only say my son Matt and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, we came to marshall not really knowing what to expect as we hadn't been to a sprint before. Unforntunately (for my wife) I've got the bug, what a fantastic way to enjoy your motor, everyone was so friendly and keen to tell you about their steed, giving an insight into how they got started and advice on setting up the car. Wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived Friday to find most of the camping area under water but eventually we found somewhere to pitch up. Thankfully the rain ceased and the weekend just got better and better, we'll definitely be visiting more of these events and hopefully competing, (can't let you lot have all the fun)! Thanks to Nick, Mike Shorley, and everyone else involved, its the mutual respect and enthusiasm that we all share for the sport we all love that made the weekend one of the best I've had in a long while! Well done all, Rich.

  11. Might I remind you that, as a WSCC Member, you are under a statutory obligation to get everyone in here excited about spending your money, start a small row about what's best, take all this information on board, and then either do the exact opposite thing (such as buying a London taxi) or do absolutely nothing, but only revealing your decision when someone asks after several days of silence or when the thread drops to at least Page 4. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce 'em.

  12. found it - pretty awsome car smaller than a ultima (less claustrophobic due to central driving position) you can get two m8s in with you - quicker than most of them too - good for pulling ladies http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3999173.htm

  14. When Roger King finished my engine I was instructed to run it in for 1000 miles not exceeding 4000 rpm. I did a shakedown run to Hull (from Sheffield) and then we went to Cornwall for the weekend. Non stop there and back and not exceeding 4000 rpm. Then oil and filter change, head pulled down and two hours on the rolling road, rejetting the carbs. He then allowed me to take it out and open it up. We were at a scrapyard near Sudbury. I made my way to the main road and then, after leaving the town, opened it up. Whoosh it was fantastic. I couldn't believe the acceleration and power. To say I was happy is an understatement. When I got back HM and Roger were standing there and said they'd heard me all the way along the by-pass and back.

  15. Lovely and sunny in south Warwickshire, first blat in ages, and with a new passenger too, Sophie the Westie in the passenger seat of The Wench, her little fuzzy face in the wind and loving it. Happy days!
