Following on from my recent dimensions FAQ I’m trying to put together another one to assit new members and buyers identify the different models of Westfield and it’s common components. Therefore if possible I could do with a few photographs of some parts of different cars to add to the thread to help them with identification. Not wishing to breach any copyright by using Google images or other peoples build sites without their permission could I ask if anyone has any photos of the following they're willing to let me use could you email me some picures or provide links to photos (note please do not provide links to other peoples websites unless you have their permission to publish their photos). ....or does anyone else find it ironic that some of us, in an effort to make their cars look like they're made from lightweight carbon fibre by using wrapping materials are, in fact, making their cars heavier? Discuss. Wish I'd thought of starting a flame-producing thread like this when I still had 100% of the snack food profits...!1 point

Shame he wasn't taking notes, could have then fixed the errors in the build manual when he got back1 point

1. "I think it should be explained in the brochure that the local store does not sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts." 2. "It's lazy of the local shopkeepers to close in the afternoons. I often needed to buy things during 'siesta' time - this should be banned." 3. "On my holiday to Goa in India , I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like spicy food at all." 4. "We booked an excursion to a water park but no-one told us we had to bring our swimming costumes and towels." 5. A tourist at a top African Game Lodge over looking a water hole, who spotted a visibly aroused elephant, complained that the sight of this rampant beast ruined his honeymoon by making him feel "inadequate". 6. A woman threatened to call police after claiming that she'd been locked in by staff, when in fact, she had mistaken the "do not disturb" sign on the back of the door as a warning to remain in the room. 7. "The beach was too sandy." 8. "We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure. Your brochure shows the sand as yellow but it was white." 9. A guest at a Novotel in Australia complained his soup was too thick and strong. He was inadvertently slurping the gravy at the time. 10. "Topless sunbathing on the beach should be banned. The holiday was ruined as my husband spent all day looking at other women." 11. "We bought 'Ray-Ban' sunglasses for five Euros from a street trader, only to find out they were fake." 12. "No-one told us there would be fish in the sea. The children were startled." 13. "There was no egg slicer in the apartment..." 14. "We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the taxi drivers as they were all Spanish." 15. "The roads were uneven.." 16. "It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to England it only took the Americans three hours to get home." 17. "I compared the size of our one-bedroom apartment to our friends' three-bedroom apartment and ours was significantly smaller.." 18. "The brochure stated: 'No hairdressers at the accommodation'. We're trainee hairdressers - will we be OK staying there?" 19. "There are too many Spanish people. The receptionist speaks Spanish. The food is Spanish. Too many foreigners now live abroad." 20 "We had to queue outside with no air conditioning." 21. "It is your duty as a tour operator to advise us of noisy or unruly guests before we travel." 22. "I was bitten by a mosquito, no-one said they could bite." 23. "My fiance and I booked a twin-bedded room but we were placed in a double-bedded room. We now hold you responsible for the fact that I find myself pregnant. This would not have happened if you had put us in the room that we booked."1 point

Nothing wrong with carbon wrap, and a nice set of neons will really show it off a treat.1 point

So long as you're not a serial pie eater then a narrow will represent better value with your budget, they're a shade narrow and shorter in the cockpit, however the footwell is wider which helps a bit. It's only really around your that you'll notice the difference in width, and in any westfield you'll find yourself hanging your right arm over the side. Having been going to Detling for the last few years I doubt you'll find many (if any) Westfields for sale there, Stoneleigh would be the better place to find a car. I've never known the market for used westfields to be as quiet as it is at the moment, but I hope you find something soon1 point

I knew at the back of mind that this topic might get started I was in the same frame of mind before I saw it close up, and on tin tops especially it can just add a lovelly style to the car. Only in small quantities though and I disagree with people who wrap their whole cars, this is something that i think is done on council estates! But a small bit of carbon wrapping can definatly make a difference in certain parts of the car whether it be on a kit car or a tin top. And quite frankly I couldn't give a donkeys d*** if people disagree with me Dan1 point

Ditto, the only carbon on mine is the real McCoy Carbon is just a fad and not timeless like chrome1 point

Got home today after another hard day as a jobbing builder, covered in plaster, tired, hungry and a bit fed up...My lovely wife (who is 19 weeks pregnant) suffering at the hands of our nearly 6 year old boy who refused to do his homework.. A sink full of dishes to deal with and cold cup of tea on the table. Next to the cuppa was the latest copy of Westfield world.. I looked at the topless beauty on the front cover and thought, hang on a minute, thats my car! Thats right, my car.... I dont know anyone on the commitee, i am not sleeping with anyone who runs the magazine. no. All i did was take a picture of my car in the snow, sent it to the editor (who i don't know personally) simple as that, What i am getting at is, send some stuff to the magazine and make it special for everyone, and stop moaning. There. Best regards. Dave Hudson (sweet orange) :t-up:1 point

The best money you will ever spend in your shoes is with an instructor on the day. That is not me trying to be big and clever, but traveling faster is about confidence not blind optimisum, so having an expert sat next to you teaching you lines and car feel/control will pay big dividens in your enjoyment. Next up is attitude......Doing well in the posts i must say, but tyre were is your responsibility, so if getting low on the day, stop.....drive home safely. Conected to this will be you ariving early and asking for advice on the day, and starting slow and building up....it is not a race, but a track day, nothing to proove to anyone. I would resits upgrading anything until you are clear what it is you want to do with the car, from experience building a mega track car can distract from some road milage and then you end up selling it as you never use it. 2000Y chassis will have both mounting bosses for a 4 point harness......however i strongly recomend the use of a 5 point harness to stop the lap belt riding up to your tits in the unfortunate event you call upon it's design....again speak from experience on this matter. If you have never done this kind of thing before, then 2 possible ideas to consider. Airfield based days are both cheaper and have pretty much nothing to hit.....I would reomend practising spinning and pioretting on one or two of these first. Motorsport events (Ed Moore) runs a few in Hullavington, Kemble, Keevil, all closeish to you. Motorsport Vision used to run novice only track days, not seen them advertised recently, but if they still do, it might be worth thnking about this to get some experience with similar drivers? Good luck, pleased you asked actually, wish more would be so honest.1 point
