Young Pretender
Looks like an honest, clean car at a reasonable price, I'd say. Might help to understand a little bit more about what you are looking to use it for? It looks more of a road goer than a track mule.
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary
Some of it's description conflicts to me a bit. He says Factory built from all new or reconditioned parts. But usually when they did that they also had an age related number plate on them. Although that's possibly a 1997 thing, my memory fails me. Other than that looks a nice car, CVH wouldn't be my favourite choice of engine.
Sparkymart
my primary aim is as a touring road car with the odd track day here and there

Nick Algar - Competition Secretary
cheers Nick I spotted that as well .would it have been SVA'ed not sure what year that came in ? I am wondering that myself, as the car I had at the time was SVA'd in 2000, but like you I am wondering if before 1/1/2000 it was easier, hence why on a Q ? Someone who can remember will be along soon.
User0083
Looks like a good car. I know about pinto and zetec... Not CVH though. Only but shouting out is "Factory built" Followed later by "Build pictures and invoices" Would you have build pictures on a factory car? Personally I'd wait out for the zetec you want. Graham0127
If in doubt contact Westfield giving them the VIN plate number & they`ll tell you if it`s a factory build.I did this on a car I was looking at,listed as factory built......it wasn`t..........it WAS supplied in modules..all new except engine. However,HPI`d it......written off in 2009 and re-registered with same `02` prefix to hide identity. Remember Buyer beware.....get the reg. no. HPI it and get Vin number .If he won`t give it to you,he`s hding something.
Rab (bombero) Reid
Hi Martin As already mooted, not a bad looking car all round, but the CVH wouldn't be my 1st choice of engines. Don't get me wrong .. it was a popular powerplant and found in the Mk3 Escort. It's the availability of spares and a limit to upgraditus that might put me off personally. Is it at the limit of your budget? If not, hang off as I'm sure early zetec'd engined westies do crop up from time to time for not much more £££s
Sparkymart
Cheers for the advice Graham worth remembering. I nearly had Steve major's red zetec but his mate beat me to it gutted :-( so the hunt goes on...
IanG1
You have any luck with the lead I gave you Martin?
JeffC
I think thats a good buy for a 97 SEIW. and ripe for an engine transplant, Ive only ever driven 1 1600 cvh and Jeez was it pedestrian I would buy it remove the cvh and drop a 2.0 zetec in it shouldnt be an expensive conversion and you would end up with a cheap car finished

FILFAN
the cvh is is a strong enough old lump but is a bit under powered by today's standards. other than that its a great looking car and if you do have it i have an origional rs1600i rockercover that would look great on it
