Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Indeed, with the Porsche already in the fleet, the VX would appear to be the same, but different IYSWIM. Whereas the Westfield, for all it's insane, (in this day and age), compromises, makes a real breath of fresh air.

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Ah, but I've got me windscreen and side screens on now; no more face full of poo from the backs of tractors 'cause I've not manged to get the visor down on my helmet fast enough Ah, the taste of the countryside. fatbaldbloke
QUOTE A Westfield is more than a car; it's a hobby that will teach you lots if you are interested in the basic mechanical workings of the car - if you look at it like this they offer great value for money and I would struggle to sell mine as I love what it offers. So true. I think there are many of us who get as much pleasure tinkering, developing and engineering the cars as driving them. I've owned a VX220 Turbo and two westies and for what I want I'd have the westies everyday, but I do have a sensible car as well.
Captain Colonial
Comparing a VX220 with a Westy is a real apples and oranges job. Ride in both, and decide which you're prepared to spend your resources on in terms of time, money, and in the case of the Westy, if you're willing to work on it yourself instead of taking it to a specialist garage. Let's compare fun with fun - in terms of road-going driving, I think a Westy delivers more raw sheer brute animal fun than almost anything short of a motorbike, while a VX220 delivers lots of fun but in a more civilised and everyday accessible fashion. It really depends on so many factors, but at the end of the day, you're the one who has to live with it day in and day out.
