Good thing about this bunch is that most of the replies are genuine and everyone is interested.

My view is that the XE is a good engine in standard form and is a great engine with carbs or throttle bodies. I admire your engineering drive. Whilst I might suggest if you put the same time and effort  into working the engine over v. carefully, and I know its not your initial plan, then fit carbs or throttle bodies you will see easily 'big smile hp'.

Thanks Ash,

Well, I want to get the car rolling first. Next stage is to go over engine and transmission and bring these up to "spec" because I really despise dirt and noises that shouldn't be there and I want to trust it not to break as I punish it on the track.

Next stage is obviously TBs and programmable injection, which is why I don't want to put in huge amounts of extra work into making stuff I will later throw away, which is the beauty of having the stock manifold working. Of course, if it doesn't then obviously it's time to revise the plans :)

For me however, big HP is 180hp. Someone clever once said "If you can't go fast with 90hp, 900hp won't help you." and I truly believe that. I want to put most of my time and effort into chassis, springs, dampers, settings and training the lump of meat behind the steering wheel, not so much into hp mods.

Very wise thoughts, concentrating on the important bits first..... :t-up:  :)
