Its an alloy blocked " Cosworth" engine and no different to the wide variety of other engines used in Westfields such as V8s?

Terry,

The MSA has stated that the Millington Diamond engine (that is the unit being fitted, or isn’t it?) is a Specialist Competition Engine, as: “Specialist Competition Engine. An engine, other than a Series Production Engine or motorcycle engine, of four cylinders and normally aspirated, no greater than 2,500cc.” (2011 Blue Book Part B Nomenclature and Definitions).

The 2011 Blue Book Section S11 Regulations for Roadgoing Series Production Cars and Roadgoing Specialist Producton Cars requires: “Engines. 11.5.2. For Road-Going Specialist Production Cars, the cylinder block and head must be of a make and type produced in at least 1,000 identical units originally available through the normal commercial channels of a land vehicle manufacturer.” (Highlighted in red type in this year's book). The same sort of wording is included in S12, S13 is Supersports, and it appears that the first category that a Millington Diamond Specialist Competition Engine is allowed in is S14 Sports Libre.

Don’t know why you mentioned V8s. My car has a V8 but it is the old BOP-Rover unit that has been produced in literally millions (I’m no mathematician, but I believe that it meets the MSA 1,000 units production requirement).

Regards, Annie.

Well I do not have a 2011 MSA book yet but if your right it will need to come out and be replaced by an SBD engine........ maybe :p  :D

I still have the bonnet exit exhaust manifold - would that be ok cos it would fit a Cossie or Pinto :D

Mind you, with Steve D involved, I did just wonder, seeing the varied and sometimes extreme machinery he turns up to meetings with anything is possible! :D  :D

You boys and your jokes! Just to be Annie-the-Anorak for one last time though, even a standard Pinto block with a Warrior head puts a Westy into MSA S14 Sports Libre. Try a V8 ~ you know it makes sense!

Grannie Annie.
