Cleggy the Spyder Man
Hey Dave - cheers for the offer m8 I am struggling to get any time off work during the daytime for the next two weeks unfortunately - but if you fancy an hour holding a spanner one evening just drop me a text/ring I would be glad to have you on-board - I shall be in the garage most evenings I guess engine needs to come out next! Thanks to a couple of old m8's - Tony and Jago I now have a naked chassis - the body is carefully positioned on some pallets out of harms way - although I fear the kids may have other things planned This shot shows the brake disc conversion as fitted earlier in the cars life Other side shows the speedo cable as fitted to o/s front wheel - have not seen how this fits yet - will be interesting finally the front suspension totally removed Next up it's engine out
spence
Speedo cable fits through the hole in the middle and should just pop through the other side of the end cap that fits in the middle of the drum. It is held in place with a small 'C' clip. Edited to say........sorry just realised you have got discs I take that back. Don't loose them shims either. I can see the plates just waiting to fall off the link pins and fall out.
Mike H
I did a disc conversion on a '72 once and the speedo fitted just the same as with drums. As Spence says the square end of the cable pokes through the dust cap in the centre of the hub. As long as the hole in the dust cap is still square it works - usually ! I guess you'll have to wait and see what guages you get before deciding to stick with it or not. Mike
Cleggy the Spyder Man
the speedo may be surplus to requirements I guess it looks likely I will go for a electronic speedo The shims are just sat in place - I should get them taped in so I dont loose them or get them mixed up - a job for tonight
