6500RPM
Now this is more like it. Does anyone know the car - compare this to the newer spec cars you were looking at! click me please!!! Yes, had been looking at that one, just concerned (rightly or wrongly) that if anything went wrong with the engine (as does happen with these, had 3 cylinder heads go on them, sure they make them of cheese) would it be a case of just getting normal parts to repair, or would i have to take it back to a specialist? (Total lack of knowledge springs to mind )

If you've experienced the XE head problem you'll have an idea of what to check Nothing too technical on this that would need a specialist to do With the exception of a rolling road tune should it be required Always plenty of advice available on the Boardroom

Cleggy the Spyder Man
hey chap, looks like you made it back! Hopefully last night gave you an insight into the world of westfield and you went home with renewed enthusiasm - I guess your ears have just about thawed out Good luck with the search, let us know how you get on and don't be worried about asking questions in here about cars that you are interested in - the crew in here are a great help, some of them are honest too
gbduo
Cheers mate! Yeh got back about 11pm to then be interrogated by my parents on your advice and have contacted the seller of that car I was interested in. So, time will tell... My ears were fine, it was my neck that was the problem, turning my head immediately after when it was still frozen to look out for oncoming cars was an issue, but the A1 was clear so was not too much of a problem! With the heaters (thank god for that!) on full heat, after 10mins, all was good in the world again! Thanks ever so much for the ride and advice, much appreciated! See you soon! gbduo
Right little update for you all, I am still in the market for a Westie, I found this one, but thinking the market is a bit flat at the moment for what I want. So thinking I may wait until August when I get back from sea... Anyway, here is one I am looking at, anyone know it? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C77472# My shopping list has evolved though! SEi or SEiW Vauxhall XE 2ltr Throttle Bodies 3D Ignition Quaiffe LSD or similar ~200bhp at the wheels Toyo R888 Quickshift gearbox RAC Rollcage So yeh, I have more idea of what I want, if anyone sees this kinda spec before me, do let me know! Or if anyone has this car that I am looking for and want to sell, let me know! Cheers guys! Graham
markcoopers
Well That one is a surprise. The windscreen is not right, too angled back....... The cycle wings are not westfield, it looks to of originally been swept winged and converted The pics are not clear but it looks like the sids of teh tub have been cut and vented. this is common to cover up old exhaust and swept wing holes The interior is very individual The seats look like the old bench type, but could be wrong on that front The good news is that the greasy bits sound well sorted. gbduo
Yeh i am not too keen on it, but as you say the greasy bits look well looked after. I think I will keep waiting, something will come up. Planning to go to the Detling show on the 12th Apr, should get a good look around what is on offer then and for how much. Then when I come back from Sea in August with a fat wallet I can get something at the end of the season, when people are bored of them and don't want to winter store them and hopefully pick up a good car at a good price! I am sure my one will come my way eventually! If anyone sees one, let me know! I quite like the feel of fibreglass/racing seats so that is also definately on the wish list, although not too fussed as they are not that expensive to fit. Especially second hand. Meh, as I say, the market is pretty flat atm.
h4muf
I agree with mark. What the hell is going on with that dash? It`s a westy that wants to be a caterham!!! Louvered bonnet? Engine looks the best thing on it imho. 3 spoke wheels?
perksy
The interior is very individual You can say that again Mate
James
What the hell is going on with that dash? to quote a fellow member "it looks like he put all the gauges in his mouth and sneezed!" That dash is AWFULL!!!!! and what was he thinking with that plank of wood on the steering wheel!!
RedditchJay
I agree, areo screens look the business but you need to wear a helmet or face {litterly} the risks....... full screen and if poss good RAC roll bar.......... I doubt the standard roll bar would hold up to much if the car flipped.....mind you... if you going fast enough to flip even with an RAC bar...... hang on for the ride and good luck..... LEARN to walk before you run, my 1st westy was a 1600cvh {approx 100bhp} and span the car 4 times and learnt to drive it, a few years later now I have a newer Westy fitted with a 180bhp dunnell zetec and want more...... Good luck...... you will enjoy... I use Sureterm £230.00 fully comp
