conibear Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Chris, no idea on Cadwell never been there, too far North I have an Elite seq which has many many choices for ratio's for each gear, far far greater than a Busa. But I do not have a VX. I guess a VX 2L engine weighs 120kg, an Elite with bellhousing 30kg. Something doesn't add then Chris Strange only BEC owners are challenging me Quote
Bazzer Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 In my race series they don't Bazzer, also my car is not 200bhp or a VX so not a comparison. Bazzer, lap times is not what I have commented on, just acceleration Edited: SVA weighbridge's are never accurate as been discussed to death on here in the past. I used to think my car weighed b****r all (according to suspension specialist) then it got weighed properly on three different devices, all of these three devices showed it was 45kg heavier than I thought It was weighed at blackbird motorsport. Reason I said after SVA is that its changed a lot since then. Bazzer Quote
Terry Everall Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 i have had some pretty quick CEC's but the standard Busa would just blow them away wuth a weight of 485kgs. the Sport 2000s Duratec I now have weighs 482kgs and has mega power and is quicker than the Busa ever was even with a 1548cc engine. ( It is ballistic) and nicknamed the Batmobile. Quote
conibear Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 ...or if we're talking straight line acceleration, what standing quarters can a 200bhp Vx do? No idea whats this mastermind. Terry, look at the sums . Oh, sod it I'm selling my poxy Duratec CEc and buying a flipping Megabusa, anyone want a PX Quote
samcooke Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 According to seight.com : Graham Millar's SBD208 SEiW ran 12.9 @ 105 Matt Hillam's SB208 SEiW ran 12.8 @ 107 I'd imagine a busa is quicker than that, my 140/150bhp R1 car is... Quote
ChrisG Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 At the Victory Wheelers event on an RAF runway (certainly nothing like Santa Pod grip levels), I think Bazzer managed about 12.8 @ ~112mph if my memory serves me right and he wasnt the fastest standard tune BEC which was a ZX12 Locost that managed 12.5 @ 115mph. I even managed a 12.99 @ 110mph in my weedy little R1 Conibear, to turn your questions around maybe ask yourself why are you the only CEC owner who is arguing that a 200bhp CEC is substantially quicker than a Busa? In the three runs I did I never got a combination of a good lauch and not being a numpty and hitting the rev limiter. I reckon my car was faster than Nigels ZX12R but he was a pro at launching his car. Bazzer PS I was just about to offer to do a race against somone with a 200bhp VX but then I remembered mine is not really standard anymore :-) Quote
ChrisG Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 So in conclusion we can't compare lap times (because the BEC might be shown to be as quick?) and now we can't compare standing quarters either..... because the BEC might be shown to be as quick perhaps? I think I'll bow out of this one now, everyone else seems to be pretty much in agreement that a ~200-210bhp CEC hs broadly similar performance to a busa BEC except one person, but the way this thread is heading it would appear the only way to appease this person is if we all accept that everyone else wrong even though that person's argument is based solely on circumstantial evidence and a rather dubious grasp of basic physics. samcooke Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 QUOTE OMG, I have heard it all now Honest. But it's not a Westfield, so not a fair comparison (12.73 @ 113) Quote
JeffC Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 may be falling on deaf ears and Ive allready said this but my standard busa would out accelerate all the cec"s I ever put it up against, there will be quite a few members on here will testify to that , just ask Scottish bloke how my standard busa compared to his 250 bhp vxhall and he can drive it a bit actually theres loads of videos on my website proving the fact, would nearly dare say that the only 7 style that got the better of me around a track was Tommos V8 but that thing defys the laws of physics Quote

perksy Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Mr 'The Seer' See what You've started now Why Anybody would want Anything other than a VX i'll never know Quote
nikpro Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Although tedious no-one can argue with figures, not even me Really !! Let me remind you of when you argued with figures recently! Ian argueing against figures Regards to CEC v BEC; suggest just going to drive an example of both; different people prefer different things and your style of driving might suit a style of car. Personally i hate the sound of CEC's because they sound just like a motorbike and not a high revving sports car as some people think. Please accept this is only my opinion and everyone is different.
