Zetec or VX

Hi Guys , i was speaking to the westfield factory earlier today regarding a visit and potential purchase of a multi-donor kit but i cant make up my mind on power , colour and wheels is no prob but cant make a choice between zetec or VX , lady at factory said Duratec but theyre probably a bit on the expensive side .

could some one point me right direction

pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase .

its my first time on here so be gentle

Bearing in mind this is a new build, I don't see why you wouldn't go fo a 2.0 Duratec rather than an older generation Zetec or VX. The cost of the manifolds/ECU/Throttle bodies/Carbs will be the same for any engine. Second hand Duratec can be had for £500, new crate engines appear on ebay for £1000.  :bangshead:

Duratec is lighter and will require no internal mods other than a new sump to give great reliable power.

If you are going to build a new car, better to do it right the first time  :xmas:  :xmas:

Failing that fit a pinto

However dont forget the 2nd hand parts available to facilitate the fit of Zetec, Vx or Pinto.

Duratec good choice if you want to do it all new.

Absolutely, I'm collecting parts now to convert from cvh to vx and I've found several bargains.  :)

And there are likely to be a couple more in the near future as my TB upgrade progresses... ;)  :p  :D

Keep me informed, although I've probably got the bits you're thinking about already?

I am also in the what engine to choose dilemma.

Possibly opt for the VX at the minute although if I could find a reasonably priced Duratec then that would do instead

Good choice, considering the bargains that will soon be available early in the new year... :D

So is the general consensus that the engines of choice are . . . - - - . . .

in descending order -----------------

1st - Duratec

Joint second 2nd - 2.0Vx XE or BEC

4th - 1.6 Ecotec

5th - 2.0 Zetec

6th - Pinto

miss a few!!!

nth - X Flow

Oops, better run for cover!!!!

Talk to the FBI as he says a VX can easily get 280 hp!!!!!

Get a bulk buy going and we will all have one             :arse:

If you're going to quote me, at least be accurate!

I said

"Given that the XE internals can and do regularly handle 280bhp+"

Which they do with a Phase 2 LET.

Other foot?

Oooo I'm so upset...after all my work and you didn't even put in the CVH  :(

and fancy relegating the x-flow to 'nth'....Poor, poor x-flow....you will have the x-flow possie on you back for that one :D
