Danny
Hiya Got a few questions for the clever people on the site! 1, How do you get to the front set of bolts on cobra 7's when fitted to adjustable runners? The bolts heads are not captive. 2, How much work/pain in the A*** is removing a heater system? 3, What is best used to clean the glue from the ali panels where carpets have been fitted? 4, What are the best mirrors to use with playskool carbon aero? - Looks and visibility Cheers
MAT1800
Hi Danny, I'll try to answer what I can... 2. I'd say easy. I haven't tried to remove mine yet... But I did put it in, and it was just 4 bolts through the scuttle and a couple of connections, thats all. 3. Depends what glue was used.. The stuff which I find removes pretty much everything, but not quite, is cellulose thinners. It's nasty stuff but usually does the trick. I'd keep it away from your body though.. bultacobarry
Removing the heater took about an hours work, including removing the wiper motor assembly as well. I found it was easier to completely loosen the scuttle, but this may not be actually necessary. Only minor pain was getting the coolant out of the plumbing so that it didn't spill all over the place on removal. I havn't gotton around to removing the gunge from the double sided tape myself yet. I must try thinners on it.

bultacobarry
I ripped all road stuff out in September to fit an aeroscreen, I measured them very roughly using bathroom scales. Approx weights :- Heater 6kg(dry) Wipers 5kg Windscreen & pillars 10kg Westfield sport seats 10kg each Full Carpet set 10kg Barry
slippy
A saving of 41 Kg if you think of that in bags of sugar terms that pretty good going. Mine is predominatly for road use so my little luxury's are staying. Have you drove it since you stripped it down if so any noticable difference ? Martin Keene
I ripped all road stuff out in September to fit an aeroscreen, I measured them very roughly using bathroom scales.Approx weights :- Heater 6kg(dry) Wipers 5kg Windscreen & pillars 10kg Westfield sport seats 10kg each Full Carpet set 10kg Barry They are a bit optpmistic... When I took my screen off the whole package (screen, pillars, wipers & washer system) was only 10kg. When I took the carpets out they were only 4kg
slippy
Must have had a a good ******* on that carpet
MAT1800
Strange, I always thought a good ******* would help reduce the weight.
bultacobarry
never thought of the carpet ******* Yes they are probably very optimistic as bathroom scales are not the perfect or most accuate way of measuring akward shaped items. I would say net saving (including water in heater a washer bottle) is about 25-30kg. I havn't really noticed any difference as added back an unpadded racing seat, Aeroscreen, a side intrusion bar & a diagonal rollbar strut to the passenger footwell. Net Net savings maybe only 5-10kg. slippy
Speaking of wire wool is it ok to use bog standard stuff to pack a silenceer to keep noise down ?
Liam
It tends to disintegrate fairly quickly IMHO
