Looks like the 28th of August has the thumbs up from a good few people  :)

SO the plan is: -

Meet in Skipton town hall car park around 9 ish. Bacon butty and a brew. (Loads of parking at that time of the day and a take away)

Set off for Whitby around 9:30 via Skipton-Grassington-Pateley Bridge-Ripon-Thirsk-Helmsley-North Yorks moors-Whitby

Stopping half way for a brew.

Arrive in Whitby around 1 ish for lunch (Fish & Chips of course)

Set off back to Skipton via a different route stopping for a pint on the way

Arrive back in Skipton around 5 ish.

I'll come up with a clearer route in the very near future. Any recommendations for good driving roads appreciated. I'll distribute some kind of map once the route is decided.

If you don't live near Skipton/Keighley feel free to tag along on the route.

Thanks Stuart

Stu,

Whats the latest on the route to whitby :p

Paul.

I was thinking of going to Croft this weekend they have an ecletic mix of motors on

Croft Circuit, Croft on Tees, North Yorkshire DL2 2PN

Monday 22nd August 2005                                           FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August 2005. D&DMC Championship Club Car Meeting

CROFT BANK HOLIDAY BONANZA

Centenary-celebrating Darlington & District Motor Club take the reigns at Croft Circuit this Bank Holiday weekend for their summer car race meeting on Saturday and Sunday.

As usual, the Club has brought together a feast of racing categories with 250cc Karts, Silverstone Formula Fords, Scottish Legends and the popular Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship all racing on Saturday afternoon. The 250cc Karts and NSSCC support a four hour race for the Uniroyal Fun Cup on Sunday afternoon also.

The Uniroyal Fun Cup makes its first ever visit to Croft and brings a new style of racing to the race-starved North East.  Europe’s largest endurance race series uses identical cars with closely controlled regulations racing for up to 25 hours. The race next weekend is a relative sprint at just 4 hours!

The Saturday feature will be two races for a regularly over-subscribed Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship. One of the highlights of 2005 has been the emergence of the up to 1400cc A3 class with Minis, Metros and Davrian embroiled in close battle within the main race. Up front Robert Pritchard (Caterham Vauxhall) will be trying to repeat his success of two weeks ago but local hero Mark Campbell (Lotus Elan) will have other ideas. Stalwarts of the Kit Car class, Arthur Robinson (Westfield) and Phil Morris (Caterham) should be well in contention.

The predominantly Saloon car grid of cars on treaded tyres should be dominated by the indecently quick Ford Escort Cosworth of Stewart Whyte with the Nissan Pulsar of Steven Ferguson and the MGZR of Scotsman Andrew Morrison snapping at his rear bumper. With the Class C Ford Focus of Tony Caig, David Cox’s Peugeot 205 and the Honda Integra of John Parton so closely matched, coupled with a similar situation in Class D with Darlington’s Terry Wright (Rover Metro), Paul Moss (Citroen Saxo) and Jason South (Peugeot 205), there will be close racing throughout.

Single Seater fans will no doubt be pleased to witness a slipstreaming race with the Silverstone Formula Fords. The young drivers in this race are looking to bag a place in next year’s F3 championship on the ladder to Grand Prix.

Motorbike engines then take to the track in both 250cc Karts that lap at amazing speeds just an inch off the ground and the Scottish Legends, scaled down cars that often corner side by side and always generate wheel to wheel racing.

Practice gets underway at 09.30 on Saturday with Sunday’s action starting at 12.05. Adult admission is just £10 each day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted FREE.
