Caterham - Upper middle class

not me - born in a council house, lived in it until i left home, no degree but now an IT bod and still working class at heart, as are most of the caterham owners i know. We just prefer metal to plastic

a public school boy in a caterham than a westfield
I always thought you'd find a public schoolboy in another public schoolboy (IYSWIM)  :0 Failing that then it wil be a Porsche

The worlds most popular racing car is the Caterham 7

No it isn't.

I'm pretty sure it is . More caterhams are raced worldwide than other single car

BTW All the above is in good humour

It was a good job that Caterham didn't go down the S4 route.   :p  :p

I always see the Westfield as being the MKII Caterham.

Take a good design and improve it  :D  :D  :D  :D

:0....having been away from the site for a while I come back and see the old Caterham v Westfield debate goes on unabated. In the blue corner we have the Westfieldites claiming their cars are faster, handle better, look better and besides, they wouldn't want a Caterham even if they could afford one. In the red corner we have the Caterhamites who simply say, you're all jealous because they have the real thing and you have a cheap copy. For my sins I ride a big Harley, which puts me at the top of the cruising motorcycle food chain. Off the top of my head I could name 6 touring bikes that are better than the Harley in every way and cost a third of the price. But, and this is a big but, they're not Harleys. The other riders know it, I know it and 99% of the public know it. No matter how good a Westfield it is still the bast*rd son of a Lotus 7. It cannot inherit the title because it doesn't have the lineage.

:).....so, be content with the knowledge that you probably have the better car and let the Caterham chappies have their day. After all, for the amount of money they paid, they deserve every crumb of comfort they can get.

Well said Phssthpok, although I have to say its a change from your usual style - you're not mellowing by any chance are you ?

:D

Obviously, I have to disagree with the last paragraph but am quite happy to leave you deluded Westfield owners to think what you like

;):D

:0 .....hang on there partner, not so fast. The title of the most used car in motorsport goes to the humble old Ford Escort in all it's guises over 30 year period

I drive a REAL Westfield.

As reported previously, we visited Northants sevens a couple of weeks ago. They enjoyed a very good turn out and many of them were interested in our Westfields.

I was not aware that my Genes were in any way different to those of the Caterham owners.

Lets be honest they are both excellent cars. It would be true to say that if you wanted a faithful thoroughbred Seven type car the Caterham would seem to fit that Bill. Conversely a Westfield, whilst sharing many of the benefits of the 7 configuration does appear to allow more individuality with  respect to engine options and so on.

Bearing in mind that the original thread was quoting an independent report, if it wasn't for that report we may never have known that the academy enjoyed the membership of these professionals.

I am sure that amongst the WSCC membership,Speed Series entry and so on there are just as many professionals, it is just that it hasn't been reported. On second thoughts.........

The Porsche can't be the one, cos they're only used in circuit racing - minis go rallying, autocrossing, banger racing etc.

Escort. Mmm. Maybe. If you count 1 and 2. But I still reckon mini.

I'm off to look through back issues of autosport and count.

Just remember that people who went to public school were sent there by there folks, and in more cases they had to go in Saturday, so easy up.

And what kind of people enter the Wetfield academy then ?

Oh, I was forgetting, you dont have one,  do you ?

Oh how true

I have a westfield, I however think Caterhams are better, why?

Let me sum it up with this, Westfield aero screen.

1. Customer service. Pah..... right dream on

2. You can only get them for one type of chassis,

3. Not kept in stock

4. Not drilled

5. No trimming supplyed as they don't fit flush.

6. The most rubish bit fibre glassing I have ever seen, egdes chips uneven etc

A Cat one fits stright on, you get everything you need to fit it, boom job done.

Yes a lot of the parts for a Cat are over priced, maybe this is why.

So stop b***hing your acting like football fans.
