GarethHD Posted Friday at 07:52 Posted Friday at 07:52 Thanks guys thats very helpful. Slightly dismayed at the change in weather forecast. Looks like 10 degree drop in temperature and (hopefully) light rain from Sunday to Friday!! we will look at Paul’s alternative route. Which junction do you leave the M6 to get on that route? (Coming up from the south!) Quote
GarethHD Posted Friday at 07:56 Posted Friday at 07:56 Paul please can you WhatsApp the route to me 07771683133. Sorry I missed the group thing. Linda is on it, but hasn’t seen it. Cheers Quote
GarethHD Posted Friday at 07:58 Posted Friday at 07:58 We will try to meet you at one of those stops but I don’t think we’ll make it in time. Looks like a wet journey all the way from Devon. At least I get to test my be waterproofs! Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted Friday at 08:51 Posted Friday at 08:51 That’s quite a detour for you from Devon, I assume you will mostly be doing M5/M6. Marcus and I travel from different parts to get to Nelson, then it will be the A682 up through Gisburn to Long Preston to meet up with Robin, then A65 to Settle, B6479 to Ribblehead, B6255 to Hawes, A684 through Sedburgh to J37 on the M6 then A684 to Kendal. if you really want a taste of “our” roads there are many routes you could choose once you get above Manchester to cut across through the Forest of Bowland to either Nelson, Long Preston or Settle to meet us. Popular Post Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted 6 hours ago Popular Post Posted 6 hours ago A great big thank you to Marcus Barlow, our Events manager for giving us this tour, here it is from our seat. Thank you for the hats in the best colour! We travelled up the M6 with @AndrewBClarke, @neptune and @Stuart, making our way to the Lakeland Motor Museum for lunch by the river whilst watching the steam train, fantastic start. Lakeland Motor Museum It's cafe by the river, overlooking the cars and steam trains Next we drove along the shores of Lake Windermere to ride on the ferry and experience the Lakes close up After the torrential downpour we were glad to park our cars in the heated underground car park at Travelodge Kendal, what a luxury. I am hoping others will post their experience on here and will include a photo of approx 20 Westfield's tucked up for the night. We went into Kendal town to eat with the 3 Andy's and others The puddings flowed and the frivolities started Next morning we all gathered for the Tour Talk from Marcus Then it was time to set off, excited!! Thanks @Glynn Walters for the photo At The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale It is in a lovely situation Next stop for us was the Honister Slate Mine cafe, here is the Honister Pass And here is us parked up Glenridding, a little mountain village next Time for ice creams Then we went a walk, follow me, puff it's uphill all the way to the top! To Lanty's Tarn For views over Ullswater Glenridding The second day was the Dales tour, over Buttertubs Pass and to the beautiful Simonstone Hall with it's amazing views, stopping for drinks The walk at Malham was cancelled due to rain so we went to Ribblehead Viaduct and sat it out in the Station Inn Our journey home with Andrew was to get down the M6 and pick up the Peak District, getting to the Cupola cafe before separating A fantastic trip, even if I didn't quite have a clue which National Park I was in each day, does it matter? they are all beautiful. Thanks to everyone for making it the awesome trip that it was, now let's have a little pray that Marcus treats us to the same next year XXXXXXXXXXXX 11 1 Quote
Stuart Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I travelled up from Hampshire for this. Did 908 miles in total. Fault free and my Westy is 25 years old. Loved every bit of it despite some rain. What a car! What a club!! 5 Quote
