neilwillis Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 The registration number F1 goes up for auction on the day of the British Grand Prix this year, what's the betting it will realise a 7 figure price? Apparently it belongs to Essex county council - lucky b*******s! Quote
jeff oakley Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Formula 1 has always been the pinnical of technology in its own era, however the technology now is the reason teams participate not the racing. It is a load of technicians trying to bend rules and out innovate each other, whilst they are doing this the fans get less racing season on season. The only way to get real racing back is to take off all driver aids totally. No semi automatics paddle shifters, no track to driver contact other than boards, no pitstops. Proper slicks wider but with much less aerodynamics so speeds are high but overtaking is not compramised by being in bad air. And set a total budget that can be spent. As Dennis said you cannot knock Ferrari for being best in this era and you must prasie them for being brought back by Ross Brawn and John Tott, the others must do better to catch up and close the gap. It will still be exciting for true fans but it is not as good as Superbikes or Touring cars for spectacle. Quote
