Nice build Mark, but  i cant help thinking you've got lost somewhere between F1 and Soapbox!

Even Sealey (Major tool supplier) tool draws have pram wheels!😅

I will do. My kids are super excited to watch.  We went to the Red Bull Soapbox race at Alexandra Palace earlier this year and had a great time.

Less than two weeks to go and the final details for the day have been released.

For those that know Colchester the start line will be at the town hall and finishing at the bottom of high street near the castle. By my calculations that’s 200m so shorter than was originally billed but is the steepest part with an elevation change of 6m.

No news yet on the course design but I’m expecting a couple of jumps and a chicane. I guess we’ll find out in the day.

BBC Essex are also proving race day commentary and there’s three big screens to watch the action.

Final fettling of the soapbox is being done, sone basic testing was completed by pushing around the garden and rolling off the trailer ramps.

obligatory race car driver stickers fitted

Funny 😄

How’s the weight looking? The kart not you 😉

I’m yet to get it corner weighted😀

The Solidworks model suggested 60kg. That was excluding all the bolts and hardware so I’d guess at around 65kg now. Most of the weight is on the front axle so by the time I’m sat at the back it should be around 60/40.

corner weighting completed and I wasn’t far off with my estimates.

front axle is 37kg and rear 27kg when empty giving a final weight of 64kg.

With driver this becomes 58kg front 86kg rear or near 40/60%

You've been asking and so here it is! The run of the day and a more detailed map of the track so you can get a sneak peak at the prizes in store for the Soapbox Racers!

Karts will be starting from an 8ft ramp to help get momentum as they compete for the fastest time down the high street. We told you we had some tricks up our sleeve! 😁

Drivers will have to navigate a Kart Wash, Hay bale slalom, speed bump, and super soakers aimed by the public to reach the finish line!

Visitors will also be able to get up close and personal with the soapbox karts and their teams at the top of the high street before the race.

This is a completely free event for spectators and we can't wait to see you there!

For those that know Colchester know that the high street isn’t much of a hill.  The town centre is on the top of a big hill but those roads are too steep.  Well done Mark.
