Inlet manifold sprayed in VHT paint and then finished with VHT clear gloss. Now in the utility room to cure!

I unmasked the inlet manifold tonight

I also picked up my modified propshaft today from Bailey Morris. Top marks to them for service and price (half the cost of anyone else). I chatted with Paul Knox at one of the shows this year and contacted him when I was ready and he has done me a really good deal and a 3 day turnaround.

Cheers Barny, yes I am quite pleased with how it has turned out

A fellow Cobra Club member advised me that the SD1 engine mounts were quite flexible, whereas the Range Rover mounts are much more solid. Considering space in the tunnel is tight on the exhaust manifolds, I decided to change the mounts.

So I knocked off the previously fabricated mounts I had made and started again. This time I used thinner metal taking on board @AdamR comments about penetration of the weld.

I pulled the engine and gearbox out this evening as it is time to fully weld the engine mounts to the chassis and finalise the steering rack position and then weld the support in for it.

Once they were out I split them

The pressure plate and the small part of what I can see of the clutch look new. The flywheel is in good condition as well.

I cleaned up the gearbox tonight, then gave it a coat of primer

Then I used up the rest of the inlet manifold rattle can on the gearbox, the bellhousing is going to be a different colour

I also whipped off the clutch pressure plate to look at the clutch itself. I already knew it had stuck to the flywheel

The good news is the clutch is brand new as I suspected

So I cleaned the flywheel up and put it back together

Seems pretty quiet at times on the forum Gary and I for one was planning over the festive break to read this thread from the beginning, as think I missed a bit in the middle when I was away. Don't quit with the build as I for one love seeing other cars being built , whether its yours of Chris's Jag, they are all part of a big scene picture . I am sure others will voice the same shortly mate !

Hear hear. I for one am enjoying it enormously. I suspect most people are lost for words!

I am reading but am a bit of a novice mechanic and dont have much to add I am afraid. Love reading this and other threads on what people are doing.

Hopefully I can learn enough to replicate.

Keep going.
