Steve Bosworth
Very well planned 👍🏻 And nearly right on the name it’s Vicky 😊 18 minutes ago, AndrewBClarke said: What a day!! Firstly let’s deal with the weather. It was blinking hot. Left home at 7.30am wearing shirt sleeves and shorts with no jumper. Just about ok. By the time we arrived at Matlock, shirt sleeves were getting a bit much. It only got hotter from there. Mad Dog Pete was living up to his nickname and dressing for -5 instead of the +30 and trying to look miserable when a camera is produced. At Matlock McD, we were joined by Dave Eastwood, Andy Dowler with Co pilot Oscar, Andy Westwood with Sue, Martin, Ian Kinder and Steve Bosworth with Co pilot Nicky (hopefully got that right as hopeless with names!) Ian left as he had family commitments and Martin didn’t come with us on the trip as his car needed attention and he had come in his tin top. Andy and Becky were going coming but poor Andy was not feeling good - I have commiserated and sent him a photo of our cake to cheer him up!! So a convoy of 5 with no red ones for a change (they were probably all together at Curbrough) left Matlock and we made our way via the smaller roads to Edale and The Rambler Inn. It is tradition to park prettily for photos but Andy Westwood didn’t so his car didn’t make the cut. 😁 I don’t know how Andy Westwood consumes so much. Look at the size of his dinner! This is just the first course and he also ‘helped’ with Sue’s. After dinner Andy Dowler left and the remaining partly cooked nutters moved on again via the small roads to The Stone Centre in Wirksworth where cakes were consumed. I’m certainly not in the running to take over from our esteemed leader @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative and there was quite a lot of luck involved such as the prime parking being available at The Rambler Inn and getting to the Stone Centre 5min before closing time and finding the car park empty. Must just note that due to an IT hiccup on Saturday evening, my TomTom would not load the designed route. Hastily written crib sheets were made and Mad Dog Pete saved the day by constantly updating the route as we went. Couldn’t have done it without him. 2 hour drive from Wirksworth got us home. 6hrs of Westfield driving in an oven. Nothing like it. Batton passed back to Julie when she stops pretending to be Alan Wicker and returns home for at least one weekend. Thanks everyone for coming. Hope you got home ok.

Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative
It just goes to show you can't beat a bit of paper and a good memory, beats silly sat navs any day. Glad you all had a good run out and we thought about you all day, we even had cake for breakfast at Brantwood on Coniston Water. Sorry to miss our new people, @Steve Bosworth and Vicky and hope to see you next time. @neptune hope your car is easily fixable? Normal service will resume next Sunday. Lots of love from Glen and Julie, holiday extraordinaire's

neptune
@Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative not sure if it's serious or not but the earliest Northampton Motorsport are able to investigate is 31st August so it will be laid up until then 😰
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I hate to tell you but that's quite a low waiting time; the dyno side was 3 months and rising last time I checked!

From what you said the other day, is the ‘ticking’ sound coming from head? If so it could be the hydraulic lifter. Have you just done an oil change? I remember mine ‘ticked’ after oil change start up but stopped after a short time idling. Use a screwdriver to ear trick to determine where sound is coming from? neptune
@Greenstreak-Andy D From what I've read the duratec has solid lifters rather than hydraulic. I'm pretty sure it's coming from no1 cylinder as I can here the tick tick if I put my ear to no1 trumpet where 2-4 all sound like a well oiled sewing machine with no ticking. Oil change was carried out about 300 miles ago, but I didn't notice the noise back then

Maybe remove the rocker cover and just check on clearances between cam and lifter. Just compare all exhaust and inlet clearances to see if they are similar. Any cam lobe wear signs? Just to rule that out I was thinking. Andy
neptune
I took the car to Northampton Motorsport today for diagnosis. I think they knew the issue from my description before I arrived. It's no1 throttle body butterfly pin wear causing the butterfly to rattle and the tick tick noise. As soon as Troy put a screw driver tip against the butterfly , the tick tick stopped . Nothing to be concerned about unless the noise gets much much worse. Fantastic service and attention from @Northampton Motorsporttoday. Thank you @Northampton Motorsport
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative
Oh brilliant, glad you got sorted, I tell everyone to take their cars to NMS, they sorted our car out and they really, really know their way around a Westfield 👍 Shame about the weather for Sunday, but hope to see you the weekend after.
