Can anyone explain?

Far right protestors giving Nazi salutes whilst supposedly defending Churchill.

I doubt John Cleese would write that script.

I am happy to be corrected, but I looked at that and I have to say I think there is very little to clearly identify much in the way of the 'flat hand' punched out in the way of a nazi salute. I see clenched fists, little different to the BLM clenched fist. I see pointing fingers, the way footie fans do when they chant at each other.

Take a look, let me know what you think?  I think it is exaggerated to say the least.

Both arms up, no Nazi salute

Pointing and chanting, footie fans, or should I say 'the firm'

Looks like you’re right @jim_l none of the videos I have seen are completely clear. Pity so much of the media reported that as a fact then.

It was just the right camera angles and the right about of blurring the images. Similar to how the media demonised cyclist in early lockdown by using long lenses and high f-stops to make it appear as though the cyclists were all riding bunched up together, the result was huge numbers of cyclists injured or killed in the first 3 weeks of lockdown as motorists took it upon themselves to dole out justice.

The media is just hell bent on sowing division, getting us all fighting each other.

I don't quite get why we allow this kind of topics in stuff or no-sense.

We allow topics here where NO AGREEMENT IS EVER POSSIBLE... and the results are:

We call to each other ridiculous,  talk each other sarcastically and lacking respect, we end having to apologise to each other a few times because the written word sounds harsher than a light comment in the pub with a beer.

The Brexit topic was the same... and so on.

This is only worth to actually point how different to each other we are, and that probably most of us if it wasn't because we own a Westfield, we couldn't even sit in a table together for dinner. (And that is ok, and one of the beautiful things about clubs... that join people that have nothing to do together and puts them in the same playground to have fun together irrespectively of political opinions,  religion,  skin colour,  education and wealth).

Why do we allow this pointless discussions here, and then we shut and silence  some much more productive ones related to cars, and competitions, for the sake of "keeping a good atmosphere " is beyond my understanding.

Internet, Facebook Twitter,  generalistic forums... everywhere you look at there is controversial topics discussed, no need to make an extension here...

Couldn't we keep the stuff and nosense forum for the fun, nonsense stuff and the odd rant against a warranty claim?

I don't use Facebook, Twitter, Insta or whatever. The WSCC is my social media... which is a slightly odd indictment of my life but ok...

The stuff and nonsense forum is the place to discuss the issues of the day.

I imagine if we ignored it there would be similar albeit opposite questions about how could we possibly ignore it.

So we don't all agree. I thought that was the point? The world would be a very dull place if we all agreed with each other (or Scott*) all the time. And worse, no ideas would be exchanged, no minds potentially changed, no new idea's or ideals would be proposed and nothing learned. That would be a very bad day.

*Sorry Scott, couldn't resist...

The fact that you don´t actively use them does not mean that the are not there, and doesn´t makes a car´s club forum any better place to discuss about topics that only will end in disagreement and people upset.

I can´t imagine anyone in a cars  club´s forum wondering how we can possibly ignore politics.

Well, that is a known fact. As I´ve stated the point of the club is to have a nice atmosphere and to keep a friendly space for everybody to feel confortable aside of the moundane noise.

As I´ve said above too... we allow completely irrelevant topics like this ones that surely don´t actually help to keep a nice atmosphere, but then we silence other much more relevants for the sake of keeping a nice atmosphere.

Sorry, but I simply can´t agree with having this kind of content here. I have enough of this simply switching on the tv or reading the news.

I´ve actually entered to read the topic with the intention of posting an opinion... As everybody else´s I do have my own, strong and from my point of view very well formed...

After reading the inteverntions I just wondered who f***ing cares about my opinion here, and why should I care about anyone else´s... and made me think that for the "sake of keeping a nice atmosphere" politics, religion and controversial stuff that gets people killed on the street should be discused elsewere.

And... we can also agree to disagree here, is my decision to either read it or not... but at the end of the day is not just that simple.

I think it’s helpful to hear other people’s opinions, especially if they have opposing views (which of course must be wrong)

If you take a look at earlier posts, you will see that Don and Blatman undertook a very civilised debate, both with courtesy and politeness whilst not always agreeing ................. far better than Twitterville ...... politeness combined with the excellent functions of the WSCC Boardroom where you have ways and means of choosing specifically what areas/threads you want to see or not see ................ the boardroom has multiple on/off buttons to suit each individuals needs each of us has a choice ........ Thanks to the WSCC Team

Absolutely, I think we set a far higher standard than FB or Twitter,  often forthright but never rude. Always understanding that different opinions exist, different opinions often well founded, and can co-exist in a reasonably contented way.

What about having a separate section called...

'Politics, religion, football, controversy and general ranting....you have been advised'. ?

If the title of a thread wasn’t indication enough, I think it would be far easier to put as asterisk in front of the topic title which would indicate possible controversy in a thread.  This could be added by either the OP or a moderator (seeing as they nothing else to do). 😄;)

Alternatively, start a thread called “The Grumpy Old Man Thread” and only allow those things to be discussed in that thread.  Last grumpy git left standing wins. 😄
