I’m pretty happy to carry a can as a get out of jail free card and accept the risk of having to buy a new boot.

Saves a trip on the wagon of shame lol

My local old school tyre fitter reckons its all a myth about the sealant ruining the tyre. Just a ruse by the bigger chains to push more tyres as they cant be arsed to clean it out.

But then again I think he washes himself down in degreaser all with a fag hanging out the corner of his mouth, so not overly concerned with the chemical aspect. bl**** good tyre fitter tho.

Matt Seabrook was an Independant tyre fitter, Westfield owner, AO and long term club member. While it’s some years since he was in the club, so as I stated, some things may have changed, particularly when it comes to the chemicals. The one thing he wasn’t, was biased or in anyone’s pocket.

Holts one is fine.

Tyreweld has been developed by our Research and Development team to repair your tyre temporarily without causing damage. The water based foam seals punctures and won’t damage your tyres in any way. It can be wiped out of tyres easily, so a mechanic can repair the puncture permanently.

The canned sealant do have an expiry date, something to look out for if ordering a lot. I found they don't work as efficiently in very cold weather, I found this out using a Holts can, it was quite a few years back though, just something to be mindful of.

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary @Greenstreak-Andy D as you've changed from ZK to FW,  and hence no spare wheel, you may as well snap this bargain up. @Si.Dalziel @Stu Faulkner have you got any?

Thanks Ian.

Just ordered two.

Just watch out when ordering. If you select the 4 quantity in the square the price isn’t £14. Use the quantity selection over to the right hand side of the page.

It's definitely a myth I commuted to London every day for over 20 years by motorbike and I had dozens of punctures mainly old nails out of work vans, I would have been stuck trying to get recovered in London which is a real flaph so I used to carry a tin of foam/repair all the time & used it every time to get me home then put a little bit more air in in the morning and stop on the way to get the tyre repaired only once did someone moan and that because they have to take the tyre out back and rinse out the foam then blow dry with airline fit repair plug and off we go.

So to summarize carry a can unless your going european touring 👍

The gas used to inflate the tyre turns into a liquid in cold weather and is happy to stay in the can, either warm the can (carefully) or maybe try inverting it.

no it’s not, but by your own story, you’ve used water soluble ones that could be cleaned out! 😆

The lesson is, make sure you do get easily cleaned out versions, if going to carry goo.
