TAFKARM Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Aside from tinkering with the Westfield and driving @Lionel round in circles, I play Bluegrass Banjo badly. Got this yesterday and I’m very pleased with it. How about you? 5 Quote
Popular Post BigSkyBrad Posted January 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2020 Aside from tinkering with the Westfield and building campers, my wee hobby keeps me in pocket money - I build and sell electric 2,3 and 4-string cigar-box guitars, in hardwood rather than repurposing cigar boxes. 'Sawdust is man glitter'! 9 1 Quote
Andy - a15cro Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Those are cool! up until last year I was a drummer in a gigging band, but I’m also a Freemason and it was my year in the big chair, so it all got a bit busy and the band had to take a back seat. I’ve also got my Camaro that I take to weekend shows during the season. My latest venture this Christmas has got me back into computers after a 20 year break I’ve gone back to the Windows dark side! I’ve just built a gaming machine with more lights than Blackpool! One of my more sensible mid life crisis’ s work is a bit of an inconvenience 😂😂 5 Quote
Kevin (Mr T) Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Two for me. Apart from finally driving the Westy (almost 800 winter miles since I got it back on the road mid-September), I am trying to learn how to play this..... And I still play 8 ball pool once a week in a league populated, it seems, by superleague, county and a couple of England players, most of them 30+ years younger than me..... Guess there's no substitute for experience and a misspent youth 😂 3 Quote
Jackv4 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 My 2 other hobbies, Beau my Rescue collie cross is a massive part of me, Hopefully shes going to like the westfield 😀 4 Quote
Popular Post Jude - The Mad Widow Posted January 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 13, 2020 Apart from spinning my Wez on roundabouts I am a traveller, as opposed to a camper. I spent 3 months travelling Europe on my own trying to get my head straight in 2018. I'm off again soon, Holland and France for a shorter period this time, a month maybe. Also been folk singing since I was 12, play the bodhran badly, also a bit of ole time music hall and war songs, tried rock but left it too late! Photo, me on the pyrenees on the anniversary of Brian's death. Sensation seeker according to a shrink! 11 Quote
DamperMan Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 First thing is @Archibald Jinglepants, I’m expecting some entertainment at Blyton this year.. if it’s poor we can keep warm watching it burn :). Westfield interests have to compete with several other interests. Road cycling either alone or as a Sunday group. Sunday social rides are great. The commute mileage alone is almost mindfulness.. It silences work thoughts and stress while endorphins make me happy even in the rain. Practical solutions for problems/ tinkering.. my wife often sees it as bodging. But in life, cars, work Its the working out how things work and how to come up with better solutions which I enjoy. Work can a a frustrating playground.. Pleasure can be using a knackered 2wd and a good 4wd gearbox to make a strong rwd great box. Or fitting a Diesel engine in a VW camper or Diesel engine in a reliant Scimitar, or making a new bed. Or even teaching myself to Tig weld. If I make it to retirement I expect My goal is to have a large workshop with a lathe, mill, cnc plasma, all my welding stuff, lots of metal and loads of failed projects.. 3 Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 There's been lots over the years swimming/horse/dog agility/competitive racket sports/mountain biking/climbing/via ferratta/moutaineering/walking/skiing and probably more to come, Although I've had an interest in sports/kit cars for almost as long There is ONE hobbie/addiction that has always been a massive part of my life, from mid 70's, and will be there until the final curtain. Over the years the upgrade path and 'running' costs have probably been more than the rest put together (including Westfield ownership) . . . . . . . . . . . . LISTENING TO MUSIC 4 Quote
maurici Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 From all the Hobbies I had in the past, (and they have been A LOT, and all of them expensive) Aside of motorsports I only keep Playing instruments.. Drums & Guitar very poorly and Bass a bit more fluently... Precisely yesterday I was fooled on playing in an open mic session. (not my best picture... I look a bit silly)... And I also do some target shooting with a .38mm under lever (John wayne style) in a local rifle club... but I don't own any. 1 Quote

I do like finding something a bit different. I describe my preferences as eclectic! Wendy is sometimes not so generous 😜 Every music has it's moment. Cacophony is only a personal aural perspective. I have great respect for anyone who plays instruments, I did play violin when young but gave up when I was told I couldn't play the music I enjoyed. I also shot - target pistols, mainly when competing in Tetrathlon.... Shooting, Cross Country running, Equine cross country and swimming. Then I also did some show jumping and 1 day eventing. 1 Quote
GuitarmanUK Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 As the username would indicate my other main hobby is playing guitar. I have played in function bands for over 35 years and still enjoy it. I have done a couple of dep gigs on bass when someone was desperate. Below is a picture of my main gigging guitar in front of the Zero. Went to a car show in the moring then drove over to play an outdoor festival where all the backline was provided. I have also recently started to learn to fly a 3 axis microlight. Only 10 hours in, but enjoying it a lot. 1 Quote
