I say lay off Boris.

BBC today   https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48736968   "Boris Johnson 'should give explanation' for home row"

"Jeremy Hunt has added his voice to calls for Tory leadership rival Boris Johnson to answer questions about a row with his girlfriend which led to police being called to their address".

Come on Jeremy: surely you're better than that!

What about Ms Symonds private life? Does she wish to be discussed in public and the subject of journalistic twattery?

Are the flat walls ultra thin in Camberwell so individual words can easily be heard and recorded, or were the windows of both flats open so the noise easily carried or does the neighbour have 'MI5 style' specialist listening equipment?

Also would the public-spirited neighbour have (a) called the Police and (b) given the recording to a newspaper if it was the Leader of the Opposition next door? Just thinking out loud.

The guy is an absolute disaster in his private and professional life.

Have a dig at his record in anything (even Whiff waff. 😁).

He is comical and can turn a phrase but this is not enough (shouldn’t be enough) to lead the Conservative party let alone the country and I have real concerns for the party and the country if he gets in.

My opinion is the more he speaks the more people will realise what an idiot he is and I think Hunt knows this too!!! 😂

 If “poor” (ha!) Ms Symonds wanted a quiet life, maybe she should have thought about it before having an affair with BoJo and being the last straw in his marriage.  She’s pretty much flushed that option down the loo.

If they were yelling loud enough to make the neighbours concerned and call the police, there’s going to be repercussions.

it’s only right under the circumstances that his fitness to be Prime Minister is called into question, just as the fitness of Hunt, Corbyn or any potential candidate should be.  More’s the pity as they’re all an absolute shower and the next eight years are not looking rosy.

It was probably the buffoon's idea to have a 'row' to get on the front page of every news outlet in the land.

I was wondering the other day I wonder what odds I would have got 10 years ago at the bookies for trumpton and bojo (even sound like a clown duo) to be at the helm 😂 they'd have probably had me sectioned for suggesting it. The worlds gone mad and I'm past caring.

Exactly the reason why he was kept quiet for the most part of the initial voting process. Even his team know he needs to keep his trap shut.

Look into the background of the complainant, they are hardly the terrified neighbours doing their civic duty. The Sun (I know, I know) reports it succinctly. Obviously Boris is a Marmite character and most people's opinions were already formed before this event, but surely we've all had rows with our spouse/partner at some point haven't we? He ought to tell them to mind their own damned business IMHO. I'm no Boris fan but if he's the best candidate to keep Corbyn's cronies away from any form of power, I'll vote for him. Hunt is too Blair like for my liking anyway, and.he almost reprised Neil Kinnock's Sheffield moment in a piece I saw today. *shudder*

It is getting more and more like the plot of House of cards by the day. There seems to be a plot to keep Boris out of power. Remember last time he was the favourite and when Gove then stabbed him in the back it left a poor choice of Gove, May and Leaderson.

Once again Boris is the frontrunner and the dark forces are out. This with his argument, that is between man and partner, being recorded by an opportunistic couple who are arch remainers smacks to me of this being all part of a bigger plot.

Who do I trust, well HUnt is the most complete statesman but his desire to shaft the Dr's and his book on how to privatise the NHS still is a problem for me. So reluctantly out of the two Boris is the one who might get the job done, but will undoubtedly upset people equally.

As for the latest thing today where a bunch of thugs think it acceptable to turn up on his door step and shout abuse at his girlfriend is just wrong.

By all means look at the candidates records, debate issues BUT leave private life out of it.

With a knife crime murder epidemic in London I am off the view that the Police have better things to do than attend 'shouty domestics' were nothing bad has happened.

What are The Guardian newspaper doing with the 'vital tape' and can we hear it?

Neither candidate impresses or inspires me and I reckon both will very likely do no better than TM but I live in hope.

And what happens when the 'shouty domestic' turns nasty and someone gets hurt? How does anyone know that a 'shouty domestic' isn't going to escalate? Should the police ignore all domestics then in favour of patrolling the streets?

The plain and simple fact is the 2 candidates are going to be under immense scrutiny for the next few weeks like it or not. And they know that.  That will mean public and private lives. And if boris isn't clever enough to realise he needs to keep all his affairs squeaky clean for the time being, then to be perfectly frank he's not got the brain cells to run the country.

I don’t see a single thing Boris has accomplished of value in office.  Not one.  He’s good at spending money on things that aren’t needed like millions on a sculpture outside the London Olympic stadium, a cable car over the Thames that loses money hand over fist, and used water cannons that were illegal to use, refurbished at huge expense and resold for scrap at a massive loss.

The only thing he can do successfully is run a campaign.  That does not make one a good PM.

i expect my politicians to be liars and con artists.  That’s normal.  It’s just that BoJo isn’t even good at that.

Sadly with the media and the so called witnesses we're unlikely to know the truth about the Girl friend incident.  Even if there is an official statement from the only 2 people who actually know what happened it's going to have some spin/ polish/ motive to it.      I think "to want" to be in politics, does attract a certain types of people.  Those who genuinely want to make a difference and do what they believe is right (very rare) and those who have a greed for power, and self interest.    Like "the gas boilerman" you don't need to like him, his views, his van or his deoderant but what really counts is getting the job done well...         Who ever wins they need to get a great team around them,  they need to listen to the best trusted advise, use some intellect to see a line though.    They need some serious persuading skills, and if needed bully some of the kids who have been allowed play, be out of line, leak, and generally cause havoc into towing the line of walking the plank.     I'd not want the Job for any money..  What ever you'd do its going to blow up in there faces.

Are the resources available to turn out to all 'domestics'? In this case the Police arrived in 5 minutes. I guess the response relates to how serious the caller states the incident is or sounds and that can be very subjective.

Don't forget the £43 Mn wasted on the Garden Bridge that was never built while Boris was Mayor.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jun/22/neighbour-who-called-police-over-boris-johnson-row-goes-public    neighbour's account of how and when noise was heard and action reportedly taken.

Meanwhile 21jun2019  https://www.indy100.com/article/jeremy-hunt-tory-leadership-contest-nhs-health-secretary-gp-8968646   "GP tells Jeremy Hunt that no one in the NHS will ever vote for him if he becomes prime minister"

Mr Hunt as the longest serving Health Secretary (nearly 6 yrs. 2012 to 2018) oversaw a lengthy period when the yearly growth in NHS spending was about half the long term average over the period 1948 to 2010.

Looking at NHS funding  BBC  24Jan2018 Daily Politics, Andrew Neil explained to Robin Walker MP that NHS funding increased by average £5 Bn pa from 1997 to 2010 but since 2010 has been slightly under £2 Bn pa average.

IMO neither candidate has a good record nor inspires confidence.

Unless the EU withdrawal is sorted then politics seems stymied.

Who is best to sort that the Tory Party members will decide.

One thing is abundantly clear; Boris must submit to more debates and detailed questioning.

...and BoJo runs away and hides rather than debate - yeah, that’s just the characteristics we need as a leader in charge of our nation’s defence and when negotiating Brexit.

Just for the record, didn't the water cannon get outlawed by a certain Theresa May as Home Secretary after they were bought? Oh, and the garden bridge (admittedly a vanity project anyway), get scrapped by that nice Mr Khan more as a purge of the Boris era than anything? If Boris was such a useless mayor in London (a very Labour voting city) why was he voted in for a second term?
