Trevor Little (Trevturtle) - Treasurer Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Short perspex screen that can be quickly swapped for a full size screen. I bought it off another member 3 years ago and have never used it..so it might as go to another member who will use it. The pillars and made of fibreglass the screen is perspex. £50 to £80 collection from stoneleigh preferred. Edited...seeing Dave comments. Bids up to £80 , I'll take £50, the remainder to air ambulance charity. Thanks Trevor
Onliest Smeg David Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 That's cheap, sure there'll be demand for this reading other threads.
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 There's a couple of potential buyers on this thread
Andy Malone - Editor Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Is this for a narrow or wide bodied please?

But if narrow body pillars fixings are similar to the wide body im sure the perspex could be shortnered. I don't know if they are similar..just a thought
jimthedrummer Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 41 minutes too late.......... assuming it can be adapted for a narrow. Second dibs if it falls through for whatever reason
Trevor Little (Trevturtle) - Treasurer Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 Thanks all, @1960dave, yours for £80. ..£30 of the £80 going to the air ambulance charity. Or i can take bids from you and others above £50..... as there seems to be a lot of interest... you will always have first refusal. Trevor
Weekend Warrior Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 These really are a great bit of kit and quite in demand . Now they’re no longer produced would it be possible to replicate them with a 3D printer ? @TableLeg you and others seem to be turning out some well finished stuff on another thread what do you think ? I have some but others in the club are interested

I have some but others in the club are interested I don't think it would work for a couple of reasons. The size of the screen mounts would be too big for the average 3d printer bed, the model could be split up in sections that could be joined together but I would worry more about a car parked out in the sunshine in the middle of summer. The driver comes back to find the mounts warped from the heat and the screen wonky. I guess either having a cast of the mounts or somebody designing them in CAD and then having them CNC'd would be the only other options. @nice_guy has a lot more experience in 3d printing so maybe he has some ideas.

Oh well worth a thought ,,I’m surprised no one else is providing a screen ,Perspex blade or other that uses the same existing mounting points .Seems a no brainier

Just the bottom edge curved to match the scuttle. This should be very easy for a supplier of Polycarbonate to do I would have thought. If they had the dimensions.

Yes to everything (but on the plus side a wonky screen provides better aero) Given the shape and size of the part it's aking a lot from "plastic", but If someone is goind to CAD it, well, printing a mold (even in sections) would not be that hard. What could be done is a metal frame and a printed fairing, but you probably end up more complicated than glass fiber...
jimthedrummer Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I'm not sure I want to get into a bidding war. Dave was the first to ask for it, so happy with that. I am wondering if any of our traders are interested in reproducing these? I think there would be a fair amount of interest?
