I've noticed this as well driving in France in the rural towns especially, I put it down to the heat of the day and people staying indoors but the towns may just be sparsely populated??

My parents have lived in France for 20 years.  There is an ongoing problem that the younger generations are moving away from rural areas to towns and cities for work.  Many small villages are only populated by the older generations.

Once the population gets too small to support local stores bread shops, it gets worse.  This is why sometimes you find some small villages with very cheap houses.. the closest amenities may be 20 miles away.

It's a shame there are some very nice places... but empty

Yes we stayed in Le Puley a lovely little village but a good quarter of it is unlived in and for sale and any young families have to travel for schools and work

it’s very much the same here in rural Scotland

This building that is behind Buttercup was for sale at 170,000 euro.

Big courtyard and land too.

On our travels we went through many, many tunnels and avalanche galleries.

They where really interesting and its amazing how they have been made in the places some of them are located.

The longest we went through was 13km long.

Some even had other tunnel sections coming into them inside the tunnels.

At one point Jude was to close to me and messages flashed up telling her to back off.

Anyway, if tunnels are your thing, then here are a few of the ones we went through.

I always thought they where Buttercups.

I never realised dandelions would be so beautiful.

Brilliant to hear it's back and in one piece, and that you've got a trusted place to take it. The car will come back stronger, ready for its next adventure!

I suspect that old cow is actually a bull. 😉

Yes I did realise that to be honest.

I just thought, “poor old cow” sounded better than “poor old bull”

Good job It wasn’t a load of bullocks.
