Personally I wouldn't go out and buy a full kit straight away, unless it was loads cheaper and I was 100% sure I wanted to use every part in it. Have you got plenty of space to store the bodywork etc and leave enough room to build the chassis up? Yeah with some sorting out I could store everything whilst still having plenty of warm space for the build. 1 Quote

Yes indeed, I remember using the Mega full kit price as a budget guide. How how funny that seems now! Quote

tc3nitro Posted March 19, 2018 Author Posted March 19, 2018 Do they always offer discounts at Stoneleigh ? I'm not in any super mad rush to place my order so if there are healthy discounts available on kit orders at the show I might wait. With some discount and a little stretching to my budget a Sport 250 isn't far away ! Quote
CosKev Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Other manufacturers at Stoneleigh too to have a look at,AB Performance, GBS,MNR and MK all had good stands last year MNR tubular chassis's are a work of art. Quote
6carjon Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 If you go to stoneleigh which I would highly recommend and don't get excited by all the aftermarket parts suppliers you're in the wrong club. This should influence you to order a starter kit and bespoke away as everyone else does..... You will probably put a deposit on a v8 cobra Quote
tc3nitro Posted March 19, 2018 Author Posted March 19, 2018 I'm pretty set on a Westfield TBH. I'll be making the trip down this year then ! Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I tested and bough my Engine Gearbox in the morning and then drove to Westfield and ordered the kit the same day! The engine arrived a week later. I can't say the same for the kit, but to be fair. I'd not finished painting the engine by the time the kit landed either! Quote
jonjh1964 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 If you're looking to upgrade a Zetec: standard 155 bhp with Westfield 4:1 exhaust and Cat 1, light weight flywheel - AFAIK there aren't any manual Zetecs available so Westfield have to source flywheel and clutch ask them what they fit as standard and if the y do any options my preference is the TTV 1.8 Zetec which comes in at 3.7Kgs options to fit either pinto 215mm clutch or the standard blacktop 240mm clutch. I spent about £400 for flywheel, ARP bolts, new HD Pinto clutch and release bearing. 2, Throttle Bodies - adds about 20 bhp for around £1250 3, Mapping and corner weighting with Westfield specialist £400-500 4, Long 1st gear to the Type 9 gearbox plus Heavy Duty oil & bearing mods - these can be bought for around £1,300 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Type-9-Reconditioned-Gearbox-2-98-Long-1st-gear-ouright-purchase/112855998744?hash=item1a46bde118:g:6icAAOxygo9Q88jl HD is an available option ask Simon for a price for the kit without a gearbox. 5, Decent tyres - R1Rs if you can still get them around £300-400 6, LSD, I bought mine from here for £200 and then had Bara reduce the torque and refresh it for around £500, as standard viscous LSD is available from Westfield 7, Cams - Piper 285s fit without other mods - £800-900 fitted with a remap - adds another 10-15 bhp 8, Head porting £800-900 fitted with a remap - adds another 10-15 bhp You can obviously make savings if you do more yourself and combine into single upgrades, I only have 7 & 8 to go and will do them at the same time to save on the remapping Quote

jonjh1964 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 If I was building mine 12 months later I would have gone for the S2000, at the time the Mega S2000 was a prototype, the current kits have a substantially more developed chassis, especially around the front end. Quote

Zetecinside Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Im a big fan of the zetecs. In NA 180 is easily achieved but more bhp cost substantially more. Or you can turbo it with a scoobie turbo, with propper set up you can get 230bhp with 50bhp more in reserve if its required. Quote
