I've never understood the salvage market, at times cars, Westfields and regular stuff, seem to be advertised at similar prices to what an undamaged, unrecorded car would go for!

To be fair, the bidding's at £525.  That's quite cheap really

Yes at £525 (plus vat and fees no doubt) it’s well worth it for a turbo fwd drivetrain alone. The rest would be a bonus. But these things often go for more I guess?

I'm not familiar with auto salvage auctions but I'm guessing in the main, buyers would be looking for tin-tops and the Westie might scare them off.

Haha 2 pages of responses! Amazing. From what I can gather, copart are auctions. You can enter your bid before which shows the highest live bid on the listing or bid live as the car scrapes across the block so to speak when the auction date and time come up.

Cat b is definately licenced dismantlers only but I have seen a few other squished Westfields listed before, with much newer registration plates on cat c and d.

I rang them up and asked if you can become a member as a private person and you can, but you pay an annual membership fee before you can bid.

If the money doesn't go much higher it's a decent drive train for not a huge outlay. However the old adage of one man's junk is another man's treasure may apply here...

as jitterbug stated to buy a cat b you need a dismantlers license. so only a spcialist repairer or breaker will bid on something like that. but if you were jsut looking fro specific parts copart offer a facility where you can buy a  cat b but it goes to another site you go and dismantle what you want from it and they keep the chassis and dipsose of it so it cannot be put back on the road

My m8 has bought this, complete with keys;)

He's collecting in the morning so breaking will commence once he gets it back to his unit.

I would be interested in some of the cosmetic parts if your m8 is selling them on

Yeah he's bought it to break, let me know what you are interested in and I'll see what he wants?

@CosKev can you pm me what he wants for front headlights and indicator pods please? cheers

Rear light clusters and possibly bonnet if un damaged but i need to see if it will fit kit body work.

@marcusb and @neptune I will find out what's damaged, looking at the pics there is no drivers side rear arch/lights in any pics, so can't see there being a full set of lights.

Front drivers side indicator pod is hanging off nose cone, and headlight has been turned and pushed into nose cone, will be lucky if they are undamaged looking at pics! :(

@CosKev definately interested in the 1 remaining rear light surround . Dont think the bonnet will fit my kit bodywork
