Appreciating classic

I recently bought a Z3 with the 3.0 straight six on a manual box.

I think these are on the up, there are not many 3.0 ones around.

I will keep it for a while and see what happens

Lancia Delta Integrale. Value only seems to be going up on these. Very pretty in an aggressive/I'm going to tear your face off kinda way. Excellent performance with solid reliability. That's where my money would be going. If I had any....

I've got a soft spot for the Datsun 240z and reckon they will only go up.

Some great cars thrown out there so far! So far it's got to be either a Lotus, TVR or Alfa. An E30 M3 or 993 would be awesome, but I don't think I would be able to get a very good condition one for my budget and I think condition is what would sell the car on. It scares me to see how expensive the likes of the Lancias, Cosworths, MK1 Focus' are right now.. are they going to hit a ceiling or come crashing down?

I'm hoping that my very late 2.2 Z3 (45k miles) will appreciate. Also a straight six and smooth as silk. But the obvious target must be a Z3M Coupé breadvan. They are really going up in leaps and bounds. Some things to be aware of - boot floor failure through the huge torque, and vanos problems on S50 engines. Get an S54 and it'll be beautiful.

Huge respect for the car, but I reckon the looks are in the same camp as the UR Quattro, they have got a bit of the Stallone / Heston chin going on...

Personally I love them, but we all know Deanspoors is after a cute little Italian number, little black dress and all...

Yes, mine too but smaller displacement than yours. Too long and tall for a Westfield sadly. Lovely sound though. I retrofitted cruise to mine - easy as it's fly-by-wire. Yours is FBW too I should think.

I wonder if there are any Lotus Sunbeams left? Rust, and yet more rust was their Achilles heel. I seem to recall that Lancs police had a couple in the eighties.

There are Lotus Sunbeams left.  I believe that the Club has 160 or so on the books.  Mine has been in our family since early 1981 and is now, after a rather long time, an appreciating classic.  I am looking to get some restoration done soon (front panel, bottom of the front wings, wheelarches, jacking points) to bring it back up to proper pretty.  However, last weekend a friend of a friend said that I should leave it as an honest survivor but I'd rather get the little jobs done before they get to be big jobs.

Another great, characterful car.  I've done nearly 350 miles in mine in the last week - a meeting at Rockingham (about December's Rally) last Friday and acting as Course Car on a scenic tour in the Thames Valley on Sunday.  Not much motorway mileage so the little nippy hatchback was in its element,

The Owners' Club is talking the values up - and there are usually some nice cars to choose from.

A dark green ex-Manchester Police Lotus Sunbeam is a well known car within the Club.

So many! Excellent. I had an appointment in Liverpool in 1983 with my newly acquired company car - a 2.8i Capri - and my contact suggested that I should not leave it unattended as it was one of the few fairly available cars that stood a chance of outrunning the infamous Police Sunbeam.

I love my 87 BMW 635CSi. Maybe an M635CSi is a good shout. I'd love a 3.0 CSL, the E9.

E46 M3's are the next one to start going back up apparently.

I was eyeing up Z4 Coupes before deciding to build a Westie. They are making decent upward money at the moment. I obviously fancy an M , but was finding them in the 20k zone for a good one and the pain of over 400 notes VED for a car for an occasion would be painful, but it would make more than £400 a year, so basically free to use. I was thinking of a 3.0 ltr , but the Westie took over.
