Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Beards vary, apparently. I am not especially hirsute so perhaps mine is more like wet'n'dry? Quote
B.RAD Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Another vote for the Remington here, mines a titanium TXT - having tried all the usual types, I find the horizontal foils to cause the least pull and rash. Just changed the foils on mine, cost £14, had it over 3 years so it's doing well! Takes about an hour to charge but lasts a full 60 mins, with a counter to show how much time is left, so normally sees me through a month on one charge. Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Wet shave for me. Electrics wreck me sensitive skin. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Braun Series 7 for me. Had Braun shavers for 10+ years now and always worked well. Intensity of shave is adjustable, but I leave mine on full and it never grabs or nicks me. New foil every 18 months is about £14 so can't grumble, and cleaning system works brill, just drop it in the cradle and press the button, clean charged shaver in 60 minutes. Battery lasts about a fortnight if away from home. Never going to be as close as running a naked sharp blade across your skin, but an extremely close shave nonetheless and much less hassle than a wet shave. Boots usually put Braun shavers on big sale at Christmas time, so check. Quote
KugaWestie Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 How long do you electric shaving men take to have a decent shave? Quote
Captain Colonial Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 How long do you electric shaving men take to have a decent shave? I average about 7-8 minutes for a very good shave, 10 minutes for a perfect one. Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I'm with Scott, I've used mainly Braun shavers for years, my 5 series is being replaced with a 7 series (having one for Xmas), there are some good deals on the 7 series at the moment. like Scott I replace the blade and foil about every 18 months. Normally I need to re-charge every couple of weeks. I'm opposite to some of the others, I did try wet shaving in the past but found that it caused skin irritation so gave up and stuck to electric. Captain Colonial Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Rhett, you'll notice an improvement with the 7 Series, definitely a closer shave and the cleaning cartridges last longer for some reason. Quote
B.RAD Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 How long do you electric shaving men take to have a decent shave? About 3 minutes, longer if I haven't shaved for a few days Quote

My cleaning cartridge last ages at the moment, the cleaning system gave up a while ago so the last one slowly evaporated. I am looking forward to getting the system back though as it did make a difference. I now have to use the brush and swill technique. I am looking forward to the new shaver though. Quote

That's good the hear, as currently on a Braun series 5, but Mrs has got me a Braun 9 for Xmas, so looking forward to an even closer shave. Been electric all my shaving life, interestingly I find wet shaving gives me spots and itches/ cuts and just never really got on with it. Quote

SootySport Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I've used all methods and the best & quickest method is a wet shave. Currently using Gillete Quattro multi blade razor and Culmak cream. Best shave I have ever had is by a traditional Turkish barber with his cut throat blade, doubt if there is any better method. Quote
