Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
'Fraid it's a Westfield kit. The disks in particular are the tricky bit, though the (non branded) calliper are used in a variety of applications. I suspect you possibly got that reaction as my impression was that the Hi Spec Race brake kit is supposed to supercede the old AP kit. Steve (sdh2903)
Would the ap kits aimed at the mk1/2 escorts fit? Although they are heading towards 4 figures for a kit as they all use alloy bells.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I couldn't tell you, but the discs won't. Not sure on the calipers, I've seen them listed for various Mini (classic, not BMW) racers though, but that doesn't mean they'd have Cortina M16 mounting points. AFAIK, AP Racing, (which is a sepperate division within AP) is the only supplier of the discs, as they are a specific combination of rotor diameter and bell size. They're Westfield's design though, and AP Racing is normally incredibly strict with the IP of parts they make for other co panties and will only sell to those companies. It might be possible to make something fit if you went for sepperate rotors and bells,Mobutu IIRC, the disc rotors are an unusual diameter. Steve (sdh2903)
Cheers dave, sounds like wilwoods it is!
Geoff101
I've got Wilwood Powerlites on the front of mine (drum rears!). I bought the calipers off here as unused second hand and then bought the fitting kit and discs from Rally Design. RD were very helpful and sold me all the bits I needed at a reasonable price despite a partial kit not being something they offer as 'standard'. Quite happy with the setup. My master cylinder is the older type but still designed for M16 so yours should be fine.
Steve (sdh2903)
Yes I've found rallydesign helpful whenever I've dealt with them. I'm still waiting for my refund surprise surprise. Despite it allegedly being processed Wednesday and yesterday, apparently today's excuse is the card machine is broken. They really are a cowboy outfit of the lowest order. It's a good job I'm the best part of 500 miles away from dartford or I might have ended up in trouble these last few days.

I'd contact them again (even better, phone and confirm what you say in an email) - remind them of their duty under "Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act (1974)" and that if they have not issued a full refund within (say) 7 days you will be contacting your credit card company to instigate a claim against them (HiSpec). They will as a company have a credit rating and also depend on customers to buy using credit cards - they could find their own rating impacted by any actions against them !! Kit Car Electronics
This is a real shame as I've had good service from HiSpec. Maybe it helps to be local(ish)
Steve (sdh2903)
Well I received a phone call on Friday to say the refund has been processed. It will be a few days before it appears in my account. I've already spoken to the bank anyway and they've said if the refund is issued just to let them know and they will call off the claim. It's such a shame as it's no doubt they make some nice kit but the service and attitude is diabolical. I'm all for spending my money with British engineering firms but not when they treat you like crap.
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
I bough an AP Racing Kit from here in the past, but not for a Westie: http://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk/ It was delivered on time and with great customer service. May be worth giving them a call.
Steve (sdh2903)
Cheers Ian i will give them a call monday, I'd be more than happy to go through westfield for the kit if they showed a glimpse of enthusiasm and could advise me a lead time. SootySport
I think you would be better off with Willwood or AP brakes. Must be some dealers over there. Ordering from Westfield and they'll be waiting as well unless they have them on the shelf.
