I agree.

As this is a road car I’m wondering if they’re going to be putting it through an IVA test once built, as the alterations they’ve made to the monocoque would certainly require one.

I’m pretty sure they’ve mentioned IVA once or twice along the way. It’ll certainly need one. Can’t see it having any issues passing one either!

IVA could make a very interesting episode.  Like you say I’m fairly certain it would pass but possibly some of the original mini bits could catch them out such as gutter rails for exterior projections

Indeed. I've also been pondering the IVA thing - what about covers and mods needed just for IVA, will those been seen to fall off afterwards...

They’ll sell it as “still a 900cc on the logbook” 😄

If Zcars get away doing that in the mid engined minis, so can they with their restomod... at least their engine is in the same (ish) position!

i recently re-watched the gordon murray escort that the retro power lads built, they stated in that , that his car would need an iva. from watching binky i can see the same type of mods done, so with it being all over the web as they are the bad obsession lads will do this the correct way and iva it .

as said, i cant see it failing either.

Part two of the engine episode is tonight for Patreon’s, tomorrow for everyone else. Two episodes in one week, oh my, I feel faint!

Just realised it’s five or six years since this thread started and they were already up to episode eleven or twelve, back then!

Wondering if I'll get to see it this weekend at the Historic Rally event at Weston Park...

If you go on to Retro Rides there is a very long thread about this car. This has passed the IVA test and if fully legal. Blackpop Racing if you are looking

Binky will have nothing major to contend with and everything is able to be complied with even if it is a big block in a 63 year old bodyshell

I'd take a bet it didn't have the wing and wheel bars on at IVA though :) .....and the registration is interesting - doesn't come up with any version of Q, 0 or O 53 POP so perhaps a 'show' plate?

I can't see any reason why the Binky Mini wouldn't pass an IVA. Well, I did spot that they hadn't put a boot on the battery positive terminal....
